USPS Prohibits International Shipment of Lithium Batteries Starting May 16
May 15, 2012
Starting May 16, 2012, the United States Postal Service (USPS) will prohibit all international air shipments of lithium batteries and products containing lithium batteries, including primary lithium metal or lithium alloy (nonrechargeable) cells and batteries or secondary lithium-ion cells and batteries (rechargeable). Shipments with lithium batteries also will be prohibited to and from APO, FPO, and DPO locations. These restrictions do not apply to shipments within the United States and its territories.
Items that often use lithium power include, but are not limited to: Kindle devices, watches, tablets, video cameras, cameras, GPS devices, MP3 players, smartphones, laptops, portable DVD players, and power drills.
Interesting.
