I recently decided to do a follow-up to my "Characters That Should Have Stayed Dead" in this thread by listing characters that were killed but haven't come back to life( As of yet anyways). Now the people I have listed below are characters that were killed off-in my opinion-due to idiotic and biased writing. I am not opposed to killing off characters, bear in mind, but if they need to be killed off at least have a good justification for it. Anyways, here is my list of characters that deserve to be brought back:
Jean Paul Valley
-Now I am aware that JPV was not the most likeable bat-character( But then again, neither was Jason Todd who was brought back to life a few years ago) but did he deserve that shitty cliff-hanger ending at the close of his series? Hell no! Nor did he deserve to be replaced by a crappy stand-in the bat fans don't care about and he definately didn't deserve to be brought back as killer zombie( Which was obviously Didio's deliberate attempt to spite the fans who wanted his return). Apart from Didio's obvious bias against the character, why exactly can't they bring the guy back? To me, the bat books would have been more interesting than they are now if JPV had returned to the fold-plus, who wouldn't want to see Jean Paul and Jason meet?
Lilandra:
-Although Lilandra wasn't my favorite X character, I never did see the point in killing her off as she regained her throne. Although having Gladiator replace her is an interesting concept, I can't see anyone else ruling the Shi'Ar Empire but her. Besides, was Xavier aware of the fact that his one-time love got killed? If we had at least gotten his reaction, that would have been something. To me her death was just cheap shock-value and accomplished very little in terms of story-telling-plus, Gladiator himself openly stated he never wanted the job but only took it out of necessity.
Corsair Of The Star Jammers:
-Out of all the stupid deaths in comic-dom, Corsair's was one of the stupidest where I stand. A long time X character gets killed off by his douchebag bastard son in one panel just to prove how evil the latter is-this was just bad writing all over. What exactly did Corsair's death achieve by the way? Not much overall except having Havok and Polaris join his group temporarily. Although it provided a good sibling rivalry between Havok and Vulcan, how come Cyclops up till this point was never made aware of his father's death? I would love to have at least seen Cyclops wanting to blast Vulcan's head off for murdering their dad. Again this is one death that I hope gets reversed as the Fall Of The Shi Ar Empire was one of the shittiest X-Men stories ever.
Jack Munroe:
-Why exactly did Marvel think that killing off one of Captain America's allies just to bring back the original Bucky was a good idea? To me Jack Munroe could have easily filled Buck's current role as the Winter Soldier up till now. I am not even going to touch why they thought turning him into a crazy psychopath before he got stuffed in someone's trunk was also a good idea. Plus, where was Jack Munroe's infant daughter in all of this? Did she ever find out that her dad was bumped off?
Lian Harper:
-I swear that DC was high on something when they allowed James Robinson to write that shitty "Cry For Justice" arc that ended with Roy's daughter being killed off panel. Why did they have to take away the one dynamic that made Roy interesting as a single parent? The end result of this dumb idea was just as bad when they had Roy revisit his stupid Arsenal phase and also had Ollie turn into the Punisher by killing Prometheus in retaliation. If they had at least brought back Lian during Brightest Day, all could be forgiven but instead DC decided that bringing a loser villain like Captain Boomerang was a better idea.
Prometheus( DC):
-This is basically my follow-up to the Lian Harper rant but I will state that Prometheus's apparent death at the hands of Green Arrow was almost as dumb. While Prometheus did deserve to get offed for his actions, the way he went down was idiotic. Why would Prometheus just stand there and let Ollie shoot him in the eye? Isn't this the same guy that took apart the Justice League single-handedly and beat the shit out of Batman the first time they fought? Plus how did Ollie ever find Prometheus's hideout in the first place? I find it dumb that after the crappy writing the character went through for awhile( Which was retconned into his teenage sidekick) he is brought back briefly to being a badass again and then killed off in a dumb manner. At least it would have been better if Chesire had been the one who tracked down Prometheus and killed him off for her daughter's death instead of ruining Green Arrow.
Jack Drake:
-Why I disliked that they killed Tim Drake's dad was because his presence gave Tim a unique angle as Robin in being the only one who wasn't an orphan( Although Stephanie and Damian aren't orphans either to be fair). Just killing his dad off to then have him adopted by Bruce was a tired cliche. I mean Tim's dad already went through a lot losing his wife and legs only to regain them and then get killed by a loser like Captain Boomerang-Did DC think this would make Tim more interesting by taking away his only surviving parent? Also, in Brightest Dy,why couldn't they have brought back Jack Drake instead of his killer Captain Boomerang( A character most readers don't care about)? This whole idea was one of DC's most notable fuckups from where I stand.
Dr. Polaris:
-While Polaris is basically's DC's Magneto who has a tendency to get jobbed frequently, I would like to see the character return and hopefully get written better. To me, he could be a major heavy-weight against the DC heroes if he was written to his full potential.
