I don't hate
any Nova that's not Richard. In fact, I happened to really like some of the newer Corps members that were introduced during the last on-going series. I have even been tempted to draft Qubit (and now I miss Qubit too!) in some of the drafts before.
What bothers me so much about Sam Alexander is that he absolutely wasn't a necassary character to begin with. It wasn't like Marvel needed to reboot Nova. Marvel had spent so much time building Richard Rider up and turning him into an A-List character. They did a great job, the story was compelling and it never felt forced. At the end of the day, you really believed that this kid who was a New Warrior only a few years ago, had become one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Universe and that he could unite other insanely powerful characters under his leadership. Then, they go and have him sacrifice himself during the Thanos Imperative. Ok, no big deal. We all knew that with the ambiguity of they way he went out, it would only be a short time until he came back.
Now they brought back Thanos and apparently they are bringing back both Star-Lord and Drax in the future. So almost all of the major players who were killed or disappeared during the Thanos Imperative have/are returning...except for Richard. Why? Because Sam Alexander is around and he is Jeph Loeb's creation that just so happens to also be in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon series. Why would they bring Richard back now?
So yeah, basically all of that and also because I have been in a very silly mood lately.
