And of the ones mentioned by Drac in the original post, well, the only thing that really had displeased me from Brubaker stellar run in Captain America was that Jack Monroe was murdered.

Although the Cyborg was evil, the other 3 could be permanently take over Superman's role with the Eradicator namely being his successor with Steel and Superboy as his sidekicks. I think the concept could have worked.

*shrugs* I dunno.

But I think it would have been cool if they'd killed Wolverine in the 90s, after he'd lost his powers during the first Genosha storyline and got himself X-crucified.

I remember reading part of an interview with Claremont years later where he said he had tossed around the idea of killing Logan off soon after that story, when his powers where still fucked up and he was sick from adamantium poisoning or some shit.

But instead, Marvel gave Wolvie an ongoing series.

Another character ruined by Bendis? The hits keep coming, don't they?

Oh yes. There he was, almost making us think he had turned to the good side, and could maybe really write. Then... he made Greg cry.
We had a terrific revamp of an old 70s character, and then offed him like he had skittles and an Arizona ice tea.

BASTARD!!!! :smt013

At least it's a limbo thing and he could be brought back.

Marvel will never kill off Wolverine due to the fact that the X-Men franchise revolves around him-for better and worst.

Exactly! People think Spiderman is the mascot for Marvel but it's really Wolverine.

If you recall the storyline, this was way before Wolverine's popularity became mainstreamed. He was a fan favorite but wasn't yet truly a star.

I have to hate at least one character and enjoy the death of it. It's fanboy law.

Bubba has Hawkeye. I had Earth-Man.

Hmmm, now I have to find another one...

That's not what I was referring to. I was referring this :smt011 to your basic claim that there's been no good storytelling for over a decade now in comics which is beyond ridiculous.

There's never been a good ressurection story in comics.

If it was part of a good story, sure, keep them dead. No one's asking for Gwen Stacey, Uncle Ben or Mar'Vehl to come back (so Marvel, please find some other way to hold onto your "Captain Marvel" trademark). I was excited about a MU without Steve Rogers as Captain America and was saddened by Flash's death in Crisis.

If, on the other hand, it's part of a lame story, then I'm okay if someone wants to fix it (and I know that's subjective). There's some characters that shouldn't have been killed off, their death was horribly written/tacked onto a story to make it sell better, left intentionally vague, etc. Wally West comes to mind, as does Synch, Banshee, Ultimate Spider-Man (the first time he "died"), everyone in Ultimatium, etc.
