Man I don't understand how Marvel can be so stupid but so smart at the same time. I mean they have a show Ultimate Spider-Man that most people don't like so they decided to keep it around. They have a show Avengers EMH that most people seem to love so they decide to cancel it. They have a hugely successful movie franchise that has a shared Universe and long running continuity that people of all ages love. They could do the same thing with the animated projects but instead won't to do the opposite of what made The Avengers franchise of movies so successful.

Someone please explain to me what kind of fucking sense this makes? None is the correct answer this because it obviously makes no fucking sense whatsoever!

Thing is this isn't the first time they have done this dumb shit with their animated series. Wolverine and the X-Men was amazing, people loved the first season and were hyped up for season two when they teased Age of Apocalypse at the end of season one. What does Marvel do, cancels it and replaces it with nothing. Spectacular Spider-Man was in my opinion the best animated Spider-Man series to date, it cancelled prematurely and is replaced with the so far not well received Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon. I just can't wrap my head around what kind of logic Marvel and their TV execs are trying to employee here.

The thing is though, we're about to see the best Ultimate Spider-Man episode thus far: the Wolverine team up. But the episode only works because it was adapted from the Ultimate Comic.

Personally, I get what Loeb's trying to do. But wasn't that the point of the Superhero Squad and having Avengers: EMH? One show could be the kiddie version while the other can be the later kiddie and actual Marvel fan could enjoy?

Personally, I get what Loeb's trying to do. But wasn't that the point of the Superhero Squad and having Avengers: EMH? One show could be the kiddie version while the other can be the later kiddie and actual Marvel fan could enjoy?

There is nothing about the current Avengers cartoon that doesn't work for kids. My 2 year old daughter loves the show. My older kid loves the show. I love the show. It's got continuity, but most episodes have a beginning middle and end, and can be enjoyed without seeing anything else (though the continuity enhances things). It's really a perfect balance, much like Batman: The Animated Series or JLU or any of the great DCAU shows.

If we only get 2 seasons and 50ish episodes, that's still better than Legion of Superheroes or Spectacular Spider-Man, but it's sad and with Loeb in charge it's hard to believe things will get better and not worse, especially with comments like the ones at the start of the thread. And the same goes for live action shows if he's the guiding force behind them. He has no vision and no idea how to tell a coherent long form story, which is what serialized television is all about. This was clear from everything he's done in comics and TV in the past.

Yeah I don't understand why they got rid of Superhero Squad, that show was great! It was funny, tongue in cheek humor for the adults watching, and still entertaining and silly for kids.

With Loeb it's like he gets a singular idea and then stops, doesn't think any further than that singular idea. "Wouldn't it be cool if their was another Hulk that was Red? Yeah a Red Hulk that would look cool, especially when I get Ed McGuinness to draw the Red Hulk! That would be awesome, this big Red Hulk!!" And then nothing past that. Now you have someone like Jeff Parker that has taken over the character of Red Hulk and although most everything to do with the character is complete shit he has managed to write some really good comics around that character because he does have a vision for the character other than him just being a Red Hulk.

Another thing when talking about sill shows for kids while still be entertaining for adults, one show is the perfect example of that: Batman Brave and the Bold. That show was corny, cheesy, and silly as is it gets but it was still one of the best Batman and comic book based cartoons I have ever had the pleasure of watching.

It is that long driven, cohesive story building that makes the Avengers franchise so popular with the majority of the fans. Its that same kind of story telling that made JLU, Batman TAS, and show like that so vastly popular. Thats what we have with Avenger EMH right now and it is going against logic to change it to something similar to Ultimate Spider-Man which is widely unpopular when you already have a good thing going with what you have.

I wasn't hoping Chip n' Dale's Rescue Rangers would tie up loose ends from Duck Tales. The target audience of these cartoons is too young to follow or care about continuity.
