I agree with Zechs in I'd probably choose Identity Crisis. That just got the ball rolling and DC's never been the same since.

I'll go with just Amazing Fantasy #15. Without Marvel publishing that issue, and Spider-man catching on, I wonder if superhero comics would have caught on? Would be very interesting and I don't think comics could get any worse than they are now.

Flash Rebirth

Barry should have stayed dead. He had a great heroic classic death and Wally West became such a great character. I hate that they threw all that away.

Identity Crisis is probably the best answer, but I have to go with The Draco.

I agree too.

I would also say Green Lantern Rebirth. While Hal didn't have the heroic send off Barry did I liked the fact that the good guy was pushed soooo far he snapped. It may help that I was never a Hal fan and much preferred John and Kyle... but I thought it was a ballsy move by DC and wish they'd have stuck by it. Because a Yellow Fear demon as an excuse just sucked ass.

I would like to erase the arc where they decided to give us Superboy Prime as that character was Scrappy Doo with Superman powers when they decided to make him evil.

Marvel Comics

Sins Past - Absolutely no question. This story was the definition of out of nowhere, shock value storytelling. Marvel's editorial staff should have stayed out of it and allowed J. Michael Straczynski to tell the story as he originally intended to tell it, with Peter being the father of Gwen's children.

DC

Flashpoint - Again, absolutely no question. Without Flashpoint, Barry Allen's twisted time caper would have never happened and we would have never been stuck with the unfortunate mess that is the DCnU.

Might as well erase Claremont's iconic Uncanny run as well while you're at it.

It's one of my favorite comics ever. But since it ended Marvel has been cleaning up after it since and as a result still dealing with it as most recently as The Vision scolding Wanda in AVX #0. Grant Morrison didn't scorch the X universe as badly as he did the Marvel Universe.

Agreed. I liked the idea of Flashpoint the first time when it was called Zero Hour in the 90's.

I really don't think you can blame DCnU on Flashpoint. They were going to do it come hell or highwater, Flashpoint or no.
