Do you guys read the huge fuck up they had this past week at the tapings?
Well here it is if you didn't know about it:
On last nights episode if you had watched it, they had a series of matches that were to set up a Fatal 4 Way match for the title next week on Impact. On next weeks episode the 4 winners of last nights matches would wrestle in the 4-Way and then later that same night would get their shot at Roode for the belt. Well last nights show went down well as far as those matches were concerned but then when they taped next weeks show, there was no Fatal 4-Way match, Hogan just comes out and says AJ Styles is going to be wrestling Roode for the title in the main event of that show, with no explanation of why there was not gonna be the announced Fatal 4 Way match AJ ends up loosing of course, Roode celebrates until Hogan comes out and names Roode's next challenger for the title...Sting, who has not been on TV in a couple months So fucking stupid.
Yeah, I don't think she'll be good at all.
The matches weren't to set up a 4-way. Like the previous Open Fight Night Hogan was going to pick the #1 contender. Still dumb but they didn't make a mistake.
The opener was WGTT vs. D-Line. D-Line is a tag team from the Baltimore area (I guess) composed of Black Ice and Bodysnatcher. Yep. Neither actually look like a wrestler. That said, they're insanely over with the crowd so there's that. The match wasn't that good and played out like a standard RAW match, hinting at the possibility of Jim Cornette's "less is more approach" possibly seeping into ROH. WGTT went over, of course.
Next was a CHIKARA six-man: Ophidian/Los Ice Creams vs. the Colony. This was much fun, but the crowd didn't seem to be in to it weirdly. It did stumble a bit in the beginning, but by the end they were tearing it up. The Colony won using the Ant Hill on Ophidian.
Next was Jay Lethal vs. Ricky Reyes. I always get a little down when these wrestlers who have a storied history in ROH, in this case Ricky Reyes at one point being one-half of one of the longest reigning tag team champions in ROH history, are kind of ignored. It was referenced he had history, but I just don't see how you don't mention being a former tag champion. It was a squash anyway so whatever. I'm not his biggest fan, but he should be used in better ways.
Inside ROH set the stage for next week's double main event: the Young Bucks vs. ANX and Mike Bennett vs. Eddie Edwards. Eddie gave a good enough promo, but ANX and Bennett were the stars here. The Bucks gave their usual bad promo, but they ooze such douchbaggery that it's almost forgivable. I bet people still think of them as Hardy-clones, despite being anything but.
In the main event it was Davey Richards vs. Rhino in a Proving Grounds match. This was a hell of a display actually. In fact the only negative thing I can think of regarding the match is how it exposed just how small Davey is. Watching the match you would have thought Rhino was Sid Vicious the way he towered over Davey, but we all know Rhino is definitely no Sid Vicious! Anyway, the action was great with both men bringing their A-Game. Hell, this could have been a DVD main event. The finish was superb, as well, with Davey countering the Gore with a sunset flip for the pin. It doesn't seem like much, but when you consider how fast Rhino moves when doing the Gore... Well, it becomes infinitely more impressive.
Match of the Day goes to Davey Richards vs. Rhino.
I like the Young Bucks' promos. They're not very good but I like what they're going for.

Admittedly I did not watch TNA this week but reading the spoilers said the matches were setting up a 4-Way Match for next weeks show. I guess whoever wrote up the spoilers made the mistake, I apologize for my mistake.

Me too, they get themselves over as heels and sometimes that's more important than what you say. I mean look at some of the Ultimate Warrior's promos, most of the time you had no idea what the hell he was talking about, but it still worked.

Today I watched Shawn Michaels vs. Diesel that's on the From the Vault DVD.
This match was the end of Diesel's run in WWF before going to WCW. It was No Holds Barred and it granted Shawn an opportunity to prove he could hang in a brawl-style of match. Of course, if you'd seen him in AWA then you already knew that. Nevertheless, it's probably Diesel's best or, at worst, second best match in WWF history. It's a pretty great brawl and the ending is awesome. Diesel takes Mad Dog Vachon's, who is sitting at ring side, prosthetic leg and tries to use it as a weapon. It backfires and Shawn ends up hitting Sweet Chin Music to win. If you've never seen this match, you should track it down and give it a viewing. Afterwards, Shawn pitches a fit in the ring for some reason.
Match of the Day goes to Shawn Michaels vs. Diesel.

So the results from last night's ROH DVD taping read like the worst ROH show ever. On top of that, next week's ROH on SBG will be Road Rage featuring Davey Richards vs. Kevin Steen. Sure, it's similar circumstances to SITS - but I can't help but think that regardless of how Best in the World goes (whether it streams perfect or not) - two weeks after it I'll be able to see all of the major matches for free. Joe Koff/Jim Cornette seem to have no clue what they're doing.
