In shocking news from KAPOW Comics Convention, Dan Didio has promised to out a prominent gay character in the nuDCU!

When DC Comics decided to reboot the DC Universe last year, provoking a torrent of crybabying from fanboys worldwide but also boosting sales, the company's glorious leader Dan Didio promised that no existing characters would have their sexual orientation changed. For instance, the company wouldn't introduce the new Green Lantern as a homosexual, or the new Batman as straight. However, Didio has changed his stance on this matter, and has declared at KAPOW, a comic convention that took place in the UK this weekend, that a formerly straight character would be revealed as gay in the coming months.

There is some disagreement among fans as to whether the character will be one that has already debuted in the DCU, such as Wonder Woman, or one who has not yet appeared, such as a recognizable Superman. The Outhouse reached out to Didio to ask him to clarify, but he would only respond, cryptically, "Do you seriously think I would explain my master stroke to you if there were even the slightest possibility you could affect the outcome?" In any case, Mitt Romney voters will be pleased to know that Dan Didio and the rest of the DC brass will not rest until they have exposed this character's private sexual preferences to the world.

I seriously doubt that it will be Wally. Didio and DC have to know that they have pissed off Wally's fans at this point and I would imagine that they are sick and tired of listening to people ask them where he is in relation to the DCnU. At this point, I can't imagine that they would want to subject themselves to further outrage from the fans by making such a drastic change to a character that Didio himself has said isn't in the DCnU because they would have to deage him and he didn't think it would be fair to the fans who watched him grow up, get married, and have children.

These are the same people who mercilessly teased a Wally fan just for asking about him at a con a month or so ago. Clearly, they don't care about Wally fans' feelings at this or ANY point.

After giving it more thought than I really wanted to, it almost has to be Wally West. If DiDio truly used the word "prominent" and the character hasn't appeared yet, who else is there that really comes close to that definition?

I say that with no bias, no dog in the hunt. Wally West...it has to be him, right? He was the Flash for 20-plus years, with his own book for that long. For many years, he was the only Flash that one generation knew.

I acknowledge Hawkgirl would certainly be recognizable because of the wings, but that doesn't mean the same as "prominent." Donna Troy doesn't fit either of those definitions. Again, I don't know if DiDio used that word or not. But if he did and he used it properly, it is absolutely a truth that the most prominent character that has not appeared in DC since the reboot is...Wally West.

But so was Wally, and he still is now in Young Justice. I'm not arguing in the regard that I don't know what DiDio said or meant, but I don't see how any stretch of the imagination would give a character who had his own book for 240 issues the same level of prominence of a character who had a book for all of six issues.

except it can't be him, Kyle is already IN the new universe, in fact he's has his own book.. its someone who hasn't shown up in the new 52 yet
