That scene gave me chills.
and the final sequence where Shade saw his wife again was actually quite emotional. Jill Thompson’s art was top quality, I loved the little glint and smirk she gave the Shade.
The writing on this book and scenes like this really make me wish that DC would allow James Robinson to turn this book into an ongoing series featuring the Shade and all the wonderful characters he created to inhabit Opal City. People can say what they want about Robinson on other projects but when it comes to the Shade or Opal City, he clearly hasn't lost his touch.
I also found myself really laughing at the Shade’s inability to spell ‘homunculus’, very clever bit that.
I'm glad that I wasn't the only one who appreciated that!
But will we get a Jack Knight guest appearance? Please? It has to happen!
Yes please but only enough that we get to see Sadie and the kids...or maybe he could bale the Shade out of a dire situation with a spare cosmic staff that he held on to. Just nothing that would signify a permanent return. I wouldn't want Jack Knight to be sullied by sticking around the DCnU for long.
