Should I finish Fear Itself?

Postby George_Kaplan » Fri May 18, 2012 3:46 pm

I have all of the issues and some of the tie-ins lying around. I've read the whole thing up until around the point where Bucky Cap "dies" and Tony Stark had decided to build himself magical Iron Man armor with a drunken dwarf. I mean I didn't think it was horrid or anything, but it wasn't particularly good either. I just kind of..lost interest. Is it worth giving it another try?

Okay then. But out of curiosity, who was the Serpent? And why was Odin acting like such a bitch?

He was Odin's older never before mentioned brother. We knew of Vili and Ve but never him.

Basically he was going to be king god and Odin realized he was evil and so took him down. Why he was being a bitch is more unclear.

Well Thor's a huge crybaby, he had to learn it somewhere.

Yes, the main series at least, it's actually quite a cool mini-series.

AvX does kind of make it look bad though.

I'd go one step further and say don't start it.

Or smoke a lot of pot and forget it even exists.

Matt Fraction poured his heart and soul into it, you must finish it. :groucho:

It's terrible. It never gets any deeper or more interesting and huge chunks of the already wafer-thin plot are relegated to tie-ins or just ignored, I'm guessing because I didn't read any of the supplemental comics. Nice art but ugh.

Fear Itself is a good book to help you hate comics.

A buddy gave me the main series. Read the first four last week. Gave it back to him yesterday. Abominable horseshit.
