As fun as this is, I'm more looking forward to the Joe Quesada Crimes Against Society thread.

Wally West's treatment. He screwed him over so bad it just infuriates me. Remember that Speed Force book we were to get? No? Well that's understandable because IT NEVER HAPPENED.

How could they let a characters 22 year stint as the Flash just end like that? Now during the New 52 you still haven't used Wally? And don't get me started on how his and Cyborg's intro doesn't completely fuck over the New Teen Titans.....

You know what?

I thought about that in comparison, just to try to put into perspective what Dan DiDio has unleashed on DC for a roughly equivalent amount of time, and I only came up with these:

One More Day
Avengers: Disassembled
The Sentry/Scarlet Witch's handling as a clearly mentally unhealthy characters
Shadowland

For me and how I view comics, that really is it. Some might be harder on some individual things, but for me, I think it's pretty hard to argue that Marvel has been anywhere near as horrific as DC has been for the past decade, and I honestly feel that sales and reader satisfaction reflect that.

Don't forget the editorial mandate to change the original concept of Sins Past from the children being Peter's to Norman's all because it was thought that having 2 full grown children would age Peter too much. Nevermind the fact that it was stated that the children were artificially aged or what the affair would do to Gwen's character. Then, when JMS wanted to retcon the entire story at the end of his run, he received yet another mandate to leave the story as it was.

FWIW, bringing back Barry Allen & Wally West are so intricately linked that they should/could be one pick. And with Bart Allen on there, too, the Flash Family really looks like they're targets.

Ooops! Yeah, I always forget about Sins Past. Which is a good thing, because it was horrific on every level.

Sins Past wasn't horrible until the reveal of Gwen's fornications with Norman.

I wonder what JMS' excuse is for the Other though, even if he did write the whole thing himself I imagine it still would have sucked.

My three- 1. Alienating creators- you can't please everyone, but DC has a reputation of being difficult to work with that it didn't before. At a time where creator owned work is more attainable than ever and Marvel is (well, was) spending a lot of money on exclusive contracts, I don't understand hamstringing yourself like that.
2. Identity Crisis- Schlock and Sensationalism that made little sense, but started the ball rolling on the worst excesses of the last several years (mostly cause we all bought it)
3. Countdown- not only was it bad, but you managed to editorially undermine the big thing it was leading up to. Dan/DC: Grant, we're really excited about Final Crisis. So excited that we want to replicate the 52 model and lead up to it for a whole year. Morrison: Cool. Sure thing. Just please make sure that the New Gods are taken off the table. JG isn't the quickest artist, so we've got to get an early start on this stuff and can't change much D: Sure, whatever you want (/plots out 52 issues about the New Gods that make no sense when read in concert with the big event book. Also it was really bad.)

4th that's kind of behind many of the poll options (and really #1) the backward looking/thinking attitude- there's nothing inherently wrong with bringing back old characters from the 60s or straight white male characters/creators or your current print distribution system, but when that's your main/only focus you're leaving a lot of money on the floor and creating a stale universe.

Captain Marvel and the Marvel Family- Don't care
Teen Titans- It was good and then became not good. It happens. Not a biggie.
Wally West- Voted for this
Cassandra Cain- Don't care. Never really liked her anyway
Everything in Identity Crisis- Hated this story
Ted Kord- Don't care
Handling of the New Gods- These characters have never been good
Making Hal Jordan a Green Lantern again- I'm ok with this. They had a decade with Kyle and they never did anything with him. Then Hal came back and suddenly Green Lantern became interesting again. I see this as a positive.
Making Barry Allen Flash again- Voted for this. Such a pointless move. Unlike Kyle Rayner, Wally West was a well developed character that in many ways surpassed Barry. Shame to throw that away.
All Star Batman & Robin- Laughed my ass off reading this book, so I'm satisfied
Superboy Prime- I love this character just because he pisses off the fanboys. He's HILARIOUS!
Death of Golden Age Superman and Lois Lane- Don't care
Killing Lian Harper- Who? Don't care
Roy Harper: drug user and dead cat thrower- Don't care
Pissing off Chuck Dixon, Dwayne McDuffie, Greg Rucka, Ed Brubaker, Mark Waid, PAD, and other creators.- I wish I could vote for this twice
Countdown aka "52 Done Right."- Meh. It sucked. Oh well. Not a biggie.
Canceling Secret Six and Tiny Titans- Voted for this. I don't give a shit about Tiny Titans but I loved Secret Six.
Savage torture/death of Stephanie Brown- Don't care
Bringing back the DC multiverse- I'm fine with this
Dr. Light II- Who? Don't care
Death of Pa Kent- Don't care
Bart Allen- There were missteps, but overall I think the character has been ok
Amazons Attack- Shitty story. Oh well. Not really a big deal.
Flashpoint- I actually liked the mini-series
The New 52- I'm enjoying the DC books I read now more than pre-Flashpoint
Before Watchmen- Waste of talent
Three Origins for Superman in Ten Years- Don't care. I liked Birthright and Secret Origin, enjoying Action Comics now.

Well, he was VP-Editorial, less than 6 months away from being promoted to VP-Exec. editor, so close enough that I count it against him.

Wasn't Teen Titans good for the first time in several years during his tenure? That whole graduation day/Titans and Outsiders relaunch was his first thing if memory serves. I find the Teen Titans boring, but people seemed to like the first two years or so of that.
