Check out Phil Noto's variant cover to Astonishing X-Men #51, the highly publicized and (Marvel hopes) controversial gay wedding issue.

You may not have heard, but there will be a gay wedding in Astonishing X-Men #51, and Marvel is hoping to commemorate the event by flattering fanmen with the assumption that some of them have, somehow, against all odds and contrary to Darwinian principles, convinced a member of the opposite (or same) sex to marry them. Phil Noto's variant cover (pictured below) gives fans the opportunity to commemorate their own special day by gluing it to a cover featuring wedding pics from some of Marvel's most famous matrimonial events. Presumably, these nerdy treasures will then be framed and prominently displayed, which should make the aforementioned mythical spouses question where they went wrong in life.

This reporter will be ordering two copies.

Yeah, gee, so many of those marriages turned out so well, too! :lol:

Let's see, one killed her husband, one is a sham marriage probably, there's a d-i-v-o-r-c-e or two in there too, one whose wife turned into a genocidal monster-fish, a couple dead wives, and one emotionally-detached nutjob of a husband. And Luke Cage.

Those other wedding 'photos' aren't quite right.

The artist goes to the trouble of depicting the Wanda/Vision & Mantis/Cotati wedding accurately, but then makes up scenes from Pietro/Crystal, Hank/Jan, Reed/Sue and Namor/Marinna's.

well the ones you are questioning kind of to me look like wedding photos... which i'm sure the comics didn't originally depict

If one or even two of them were off, I might agree, but none of them (not even the ladies) are wearing the wedding attire as depicted in: Fantastic Four Annual #3, Fantastic Four #150, Giant Size Avengers #4 and Alpha Flight #40.

The art is nice but it woulda been nicer if the artist and/or editor took five minutes to research.
