I'm impressed at both Punchy and Sitebreaker's well written pieces. Good job both of you!

They both did a great job as usual, but I thought the VS thing was supposed to be less agreeable.

I didn't expect these two to agree on all this stuff.

But the participants don't need to fight if they agree, they should present their honest opinions.

I plan to pit an Avengers fan against an X-Men fan in the next one though, so we should see less consensus.

Obviously, you're some skinny, single nerd living on the East Coast who probably derives value in life from wrestling matches, hoping that Wolverine gets to sleep with teenagers and engaging in casual drug use. You're literally the worst thing to happen to comics since Stan Lee.

Maybe Jude should have picked Ntkrist to do this one!

I think what it all came down to was that me and Erik agreed that the most important thing when it comes to gay characters is the character, not the gay.

Yeah, could you have imagined if it was me vs. Ntkrist?? that would have been great.

Yeah that's the most important thing to me with gay characters, is that they aren't JUST gay.

This was a FANTASTIC article and great job to Erik, Punchy and Jude! Well, well done all three of you!

Still I can't figure out why Punchy can make sense on the front page but not in the forums. :smt017 :P

Statement #5: Sexuality is extremely important to characterization in comics.

IMO, it is. Interpersonal relationships are part of the characterization and who they have them with defines them.

Imagine reading reading Spiderman stories with no relationships or subtext with Mary Jane, Gwen or whoever else he's banging. Same goes for Superman, Batman, etc.
However, Liefeld is an enigma wrapped in a pouch-filled, muscular, footless conundrum.

I'd agree with you on this but I do have comic book friends who have always hated that stuff. All they want is a villain and a lot of punching. I don't get it but... :smt102

While I agree, I don't think those stories would need to be any different if Spider-Man were banging a man, at least in a perfect world.

Not saying they need to be gay, but take away all relationships that aren't strictly platonic and see the difference.
