Just out of curiosity, did it get broke accidentally or did you intentionally broke it in a fit of anger/frustration?

It dropped off the side of my desk, and the screens cracked a little, bottom left which meant I couldn't see anything on the whole screen at all.

The actual screen isn't broke, must have been something inside.

But yeah fuck whatever it was. I hated that laptop. It was shite. I smashed it and loved every second of it.

Uh, if the screen was cracked, I'd say that qualifies as "broke".

It probably could have been fixed pretty easily, prior to the fall.
I recently ran chkdsk on mine, and it works better than before.

No no it was a piece of shit. I know two other people with the laptop and they've all broke multiple times. Absolutely woeful.

My Dell was very nice, my Vaio is nice but it doesn't seem strong.

I recently bought (okay about a year ago) an HP Mini. It is not the greatest computer ever and far from being it, but it helps me get work done and I can take it everywhere due to its small size. It was like $270. I wish I had something like it when I was a student. Instead I had a big bulky laptop that gave me back aches.

If you are looking for the bare minimum then I recommend a smaller computer for less cost.

Can you do me???

1) pay bills online
2) check my bank statement online
3) watch free porn videos
4) go on facebook, cinemassacre.com, classic game room, and the Outhouse (social networking)
5) shop online

I don't know what price range. I just know I wouldn't want to pay much more than one thousand. Hopefully a lot less, actually.

I have an old HP Inspiron B130 right now. It's starting to run slow and hot, and the fan never shuts up anymore. Sometimes videos don't play right.

I present these five choices:

1. Standard model:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6834230265

Asus makes good laptops. This is loaded with memory so it will always run fast. It is well-reviewed on Newegg. It's what most people think of when they think of a laptop. Unremarkable, but reliable. It is less than $400.

2. Something Different:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6834131218

Try a Chromebook. This is something relatively new, it does not run a traditional OS like Windows or Linux. It runs on Google Chrome. It has 16GB solid state storage (so if you wanted to keep a music library or something like that it would need to go on an external drive. It is the functionality of a smartphone OS on a laptop, with access to a ton of web apps and most of your data and preferences stored in the cloud. It is built for speed in web surfing and web applications. Also under $400.

3. Premium Model:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6834214595

Ultrabook. Best described as a Mac that runs Windows. Has a 128 SSD drive for lightning fast access to programs, but more storage than the chromebook. It is thin and small (but not netbook small) and thus very portable. You could use this to do more advanced things like photo editing or playing the occasional Windows game if you wanted to. It is pretty advanced so will be viable for some time. It has multi-touch on the touchpad, which means you can use mac-like gestures to scroll, zoom, etc, something that makes navigating on a laptop incredibly intuitive. It seems so simple, but it's very powerful, and eliminates all the clumsiness of a touchpad. $900.

4. Mac Model:

http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/s ... air/select

Macbook Air. It's like an Ultrabook, but actually a Mac. The 11 inchers are small and ridiculously thin and light. Extremely portable. It's a Mac, so not only will it run very well, but it has a ton of apps for the stuff you plan to do (like Social Networking) that integrate it into your desktop. Since getting my Mac from work (a Macbook Pro, $1500), I bring it with me everywhere. This is smaller and lighter, so even easier to work with with the multitouch touchpad and Mac OSX. It has 64GB SSD storage and 2GB of ram, so not suited to much more than what you listed above, but will do those things very well. $1000.

5. Hybrid Model:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6834230218

Asus Transformer Prime, the latest tablet from Asus, is famous for having a keyboard dock, so it can be used as a laptop for surfing the web, etc. But it is also a tablet, so you can detach the screen and read full form digital comics from bed or on the john, at your convenience. $500. Keyboard dock sold separately.

Just because I don't know how to spell the language of some tiny African nation doesn't mean that I'm wrong in thinking that your attitude towards women is 100% wrong. Obviously, you're some skinny, single nerd living on the East Coast who probably derives value in life from wrestling matches, hoping that Wolverine gets to sleep with teenagers and engaging in casual drug use. You're literally the worst thing to happen to comics since Stan Lee.

My top 5:

1: post on message boards, Facebook twitter etc

2. Play some video games. Only stuff like sims, tropico, football manager. Would like a laptop that didn't come to a halt when these are loaded

3. Check email regularly

4. Some word processing, PowerPoint type shit for Uni.

Nothing else actually really

My budget is pretty varied actually. I have acquired a laptop for a few months (also shit) which will do till the end of summer. I'll just work up to get a laptop, but I'm looking at saving up to around 600.00
