Planet Hulk

Is it worth buying the paperback? I think it's listed on Indigo for $25 (which means free shipping).

I wanted to read it when it was monthly but never got around to it. Then I wanted to read the trade. Never got around to that either.

I did read World War Hulk

I've been scooping up marvel events in trade for the last few months. Cheap too... I vow to not at full price if possible. I've yet to read that as well... Looking forward to responses

25 bucks? Yeah that's a good price. It's the best Hulk story since PAD left the book the first time.

It's a really good story.

$25 (shipping included) is an okay price compared to SRP in an LCS, but not nearly the best price online or anything.

It's an enjoyable story with Hulk smashing the shit out of aliens.

Can't find it cheaper anywhere else online.

Keep in mind it's listed at $39.99 CDN and shipping from a US seller to Canada is usually $10 or more. And (edit), I can also get it in like 4 days of ordering.

I am sold though.

Do I need to read the Prelude stuff?

It's true I forgot you were in Canada or just assumed it was a CA purchase...now rechecking the places I looked to compare shipping is too much work. You're right though, shipping from US to CA would usually cost more.

I wouldn't worry about the prelude stuff, WW Hulk was very straightforward.

The prelude stuff is OK, but nothing special.

Basically all you need to know is that some of the smart guys that were being dicks in the pre-Civil War build up (Reed, Tony, Strange, etc) decided that they should send Hulk off planet because he's too dangerous. Only, instead of asking him what he thought about this, they just tricked him into space under the pretense that they needed Banner to work on a damaged satellite that's leaking gamma radiation or some shit, then they tell Bruce that they are blasting him to an idyllic world that has no life, so he can never bother anyone again. Banner gets pissed, turns into Hulk, and knocks the ship off course, causing it to land on the Planet Hulk planet instead.

That's really it.

Though if you like Hulk, PAD's return to the book just before Pak took over and after Jones is pretty great and includes one fo the best single issue Hulk stories ever.

This is the only Hulk I read before:

I had it when I was a kid. It was a cool story.

That and World War Hulk. I think my roommate gave me a promo of "Return of the Monster" that he got when he saw the Eric Bana Hulk movie but I never read it.

I found one copy that works out to be about $4 cheaper. Not a HUGE savings considering I would be getting a new copy vs a used one, plus I'd have to pay with my credit card, which I don't want to use (it's reloadable). If I use Indigo, I debit my bank account (since I am rich!) and save the money on my CC for something.

I can find a cheap copy of the Prelude stuff somewhere in the city. I think I saw some the other day.

If you can find this issue, you should buy it. It's just before Planet Hulk, but unrelated to that story. It's the end of PAD's return, and is one of my all time favorite single issue comics ever.

If you want some GOOD Hulk stories, I'd steer you towards Future Imperfect (a 2 issue mini) and the Hulk; The End one shot.

Yes. It dragged a little monthly at the 3/4 mark, but reads great in trade.
