Outhouse or Henhouse?

Postby Ntikrst » Thu May 31, 2012 1:49 pm

I thought this place was someplace special, but I'm starting to think that it's just another yes fest where "negativity" and "dissent" are frowned upon, and positive "Flamers" enjoy special privileges to derail and abuse, while negative "Trolls" are kept on a very tight leash.

I'm still pretty new here, so I'm interested in what you think.

Is this an Outhouse, where freedom of expression reigns supreme or a Henhouse, where cheesy cliques rule the roost?

I think you're mistaking "clamping down negativity" for deriding a poster for reasons that have nothing to do with his opinions on comics.

You made some half-assed assertion that this place revolves around Herald, and got shot down. You were wrong. Life goes on.

People on here can pretty much say what they wants when it comes to comics, they can even call Alan Moore a shitty writer and not be lambasted.

The only time people's opinions are really clamped down on this site is if they are really politically/morally repugnant.

I've had my problems with the admins around here, but you're pretty off on your characterization.

It's a fun place where you can choose to ignore people if you don't like them.

That being said, you can always leave if you don't like it.

This isn't about Herald specifically, it's about the double standard I've been noticing lately on message boards. Flamers are more than welcome to derail negative threads, but at the first sign of trouble in a praise thread...

nietoperz wrote:Ntikrst, I think you're seeing trolling where it does not exist - well, either that or trying to stir up trouble. I'd kind of rather you didn't, to be honest.

I thought this place was different, a place where we could "stir up trouble" but the more time I spend here it smells like the same old groupthink.

I think the fact that Herald hasn't been banned is a sign that we allow people some leeway.
