The Eradicator Respect Thread

Postby draco x » Thu May 31, 2012 7:06 pm

I just decided to do another respect thread based on one of my favorite characters, namely the Eradicator. Now for those unfamiliar with the Eradicator, he was created by Roger Stern and was originally a Kryptonian device connected to Superman that gained sentience. Over the years the Eradicator would evolve from being a machine to a Brainiac ripoff and finally one of Superman's replacements when he died in the 90's. What made the Eradicator cool was that he was the anti-Superman or what Superman would be like if he had no restraints about cutting loose and kicking ass. Now although the Eradicator was painted as a douchebag, he had the coolness factor going for him and a kickass costume with the black and blue jumpsuit and yellow visor. The downside to the Eradicator is that DC for the most part doesn't know what to do with him and usually portrays him as a plot device or a psychopath that the Superman Family ends up punching through a wall. Currently the Eradicator is supposedly in a coma in Steelworks and thanks to Didio, we recently got a clone that showed up out of nowhere with no explanation given. To make matters worst, the clone was sealed in a wormhole after possessing the body of the original Doomsday and then never heard from again. Like I said, it's a shame that DC doesn't know what to do with the character for the most part as he made the Superman books more interesting. Anyways, here are some highlights of the Eradicator below and I will attach some pictures as well.

High Points:

-Going toe to toe with Superman on various occasions
-Beating the snot out of Guy Gardner
-Beating the snot out of the Outsiders
-Beating the snot out of Team Turmoil
-Leading the Outsiders as a team
-Almost turning Earth into New Krypton
-Giving Jimmy Olsen super-powers temporarily
-Attaining the Kem L Eradicator battlesuit
-Getting multi-dimensional awareness from Majestic after being rewired
-Beating Loose Cannon the first time they fought
-Almost killing Bounty Inc to get to Loose Cannon
-Beating a Bloodlines parasite
-Taking over Doomsday's body( Actually the New Kryton clone)
-Beating Geode effortlessly(" ")
-Beating 2 Doomsday clones as the original Doomsday(" ")

Low Points:

-Getting beaten by Superman various times
-Getting beaten by the Cyborg Superman various times
-Getting one-shotted by Majestic twice
-Getting beaten by Loose Cannon the second time they fought
-Getting knocked into a coma by an OMAC drone
-Getting one-shotted by the Olympian( Actually the New Krypton clone)
-Getting torn apart by Doomslayer( " ")

The list of high points reads like a top ten "kewl in the 90's". That said, loved him when he was originally in the Outsiders. The red Kryptonian look was pretty nice too.

Agreed. In fact, the Eradicator was the main reason why I read the Outsiders in the 90's and why I stomached Didio's crappy run on the book 2 years ago.

Huge Superman fan but never cared for Eradicatior. The only Superman off shoot characters I really care about are Superboy Conner Kent and Supergirl.

Thanks for saving me the trouble as I was about to do a Cyborg Superman respect thread soon. With that said, however, is there any love for the Eradicator on the Outhouse as I feel he is often and overlooked and under-written character that has potential.

I disagree there, bro, because the yellow visor the Eradicator wore gave him his own unique look. He kinda looked like Cyclops from the X-Men with Superman's powers if you think about it.
