I've been having a hard time with this but I think that's because I'm more of an X-Men fan. Having thought about it a bit more and tried to put my biases aside I'm going to go with...Avengers.
If there's even a small chance of the Phoenix wreaking havoc then it's best to err on the safe side and kill that bitch. This thing has already slaughtered billions of innocent beings because it was hungry once.
When there are billions of lives at stake that trumps pretty much anything, even if the probability of a disaster is extremely small.
The strongest argument I think the X-Men could make is that trying to kill the host might just make it worse somehow but I don't think that's very plausible.

There is no "They're both stupid" option. Therefore this poll is worthless.

Technically, would that be speciesist (or is it specist)?

If Scott weren't being such a huge dickheaded ass about everything I would be more inclined to feel the same as you do. Captain America is being kinda douchey as well don't get me wrong but the Avengers as a whole seem to have a more of plan about things or at least a trying to do what they think could save humanity as a whole.

Right now I'm liking how the X-Men has been written in compared to the Avengers.
