I don't read Batman (And given that i won't read it until there's a creative change, and now Snyder is getting his mates jobs on the d-list books, means I probably won't be for a while)

I've never heard of Strange Talent of Luther Strode. But this attitude of hiring an indy writer off the back off a hugely hyped, but low selling indy book and giving him a z-list book sure worked out well for Nathan Edmonson, so I give team seven eight issues, before he's replaced by Rob Liefeld.

where do you think new writers come from?

Indy books are like the minor league, and minor league teams have nowhere near the sales of the MLB, but acclaimed players work their way up to the majors - and that's the way it works (mostly) in comics

Bendis had many hyped, but low selling indy books before Joe Q brought him up to the majors - same with Snyder's low selling book, Moore's work in the UK, Morrison's early work, ect

Now, that's bad. Tony Bedard in particular has been actively writing many DC books these past few years, so someone who works in a comic shop has no excuse for never hearing of him.

Sword & Sorcery sounds like the most interesting of the bunch followed by Talon and Phantom Stranger, in that order. Team 7... :smt102

Not necessarily. Pre-reboot, Slade Wilson had a brother called Wade that became Ravager, iirc. :-D

True and this wouldn't be the first time that somebody has decided to expand upon the fate of Judas. Dracula 2000 decided that Judas was cursed, became Dracula, and it was terrible. However, the Phantom Stranger is one of this characters who work best when you don't clearly define his origins. Is he an angel? Is he the last survivor of a previous universe? Or is he the Wandering Jew? If you clearly define him, he loses some of the magic that makes him so unique.

Seriously though someone at DC should thought about the possibility that retconning a established hero as being the greatest traitor in the history of mankind might be offensive to at least some Christians.

Talon- I may give this a shot. I've been liking Night of the Owls, but not loving it. But the concept of this book is kinda cool. I always like a redemption story. And Tynion IV seems like a capable writer. I'd like to see something from him by himself.

Sword & Sorcery- Could not care less. Don't know who Amethyst is, so I'm a little curious, but that's pretty much it.

Phantom Stranger- I hear Didio is a good writer (Sometimes) but again I don't really care about the character. But on the other hand the DC Dark line has surprised me quite a bit, so I'll give it a shot.

Team 7- I'm on board. Group of covert ops (pretty much) powerless members of the DCU protecting it before superheroes were really a thing sounds really cool to me. Especially since some of the cast are villi ans or at least anti-heroes now. I think it'll be cool to see how these characters' relationships were before all the superhero stuff happened, and then see how the superhero stuff tore them apart. (I don't know anything about the writer , but the concept sounds so good I'll overlook that and hope for the best.)

Talon: I'm going to wait for some word of mouth on it and get the trade if its any good. I've loved the whole Court of Owls storyline, but the synopsis for this book hasn't really filled me with much excitement. If Snyder were writing it I would be on board without question, but Tynion is kind of an unknown quantity so I'm going to wait.

Sword of Sorcery: I've always been a big Amethyst fan and am very glad to see her coming back. I hope DC doesn't cut the ties between the Gemworld and the LSH, and I hope this writer keeps true to the spirit of the original. Tentatively, though, I'm in.

Phantom Stranger: I have no faith in Dan Didio to do this character justice. Pass.

Team 7: Ugh. No.
