The main disappointments to hear about for me during production were Scott's cutting the film for the rating, and the Lindelorf Factor.

Right now, I would love to see an uncut version, unless the cut parts are just sex scenes. I'd like more on the story.

I didn't think the movie's second half was worse than the first. I don't think they people who say this are right.
And I liked the actress playing the lead, and I think she was great.

I actually went to the bathroom when Weyland was shown the second time. Maybe my understanding of the movie would be better if someone could tell me what I missed. I left a little bit after the cesarean (and the mutated guy just appeared) and as I was walking back to my seat I saw Weyland again. WTF?

She got out the medical machine, and found David and others taking care of Weyland in a room, turns out he was on the spaceship this whole time. I don't remember the exchange exactly, but I think she told him how much she and the other scientist were wrong about this place, and he mentioned something about wanting to find out how to beat death from the engineers. That's why he went there, I guess.

Eric Canete ain't a fan.

Just read deep analysis of Prometheus which supposedly added layers & insight to the movie which werent readily available in the film itself

Which, you know- DEFEATS THE F*CKING PURPOSE B/C ITS NOT IN THE FILM. Its the same bullsh*ttery that people who read into LOST & gave it..

..more credit than what it was worth by saying it was layered & deep & multifaceted. Listen- we all want to dig & believe what we are into.

..has some sort of weight or relevance. But sometimes- OFTEN TIMES- its OK to back out of something & say, "Yeah. That was a turd. My bad."

When I watch BLADERUNNER, I dont need explanation of what each character, set piece, prop & painting means in order to appreciate the movie.

If THERE IS symbolism in those aspects, then, GREAT! AWESOME! But I didnt need them in order to have the movie MAKE MORE SENSE!

What we have a tendency to do is say, "Well..youd appreciate it more i you saw this this & this." Thats HORSESH*T you psuedointellectualtwat

But instead, we accidentally/purposefully make excuses for BAD stories the way theyre presented. Admittedly, there are A TON of movies Im..

..not gonna understand. I accept that. But when you try to make up for writing/story shortcomings by telling me there's more to it if I..

..look past what I've just sat thru for 2+hrs as more than just overhyped tripe..youre perpetuating a horrible incestual problem.

I didn't see any symbolism, off the top of my head, and I liked it.

Just got out.

About what I expected once the reviews started coming out - not amazing, but really good. I'd go with an A-.

[Reveal] Spoiler: Click to Expand
My only real complaint would be in regards to the writing/story.. a lot of shit HAPPENS, but there's no real resolution or explanation as to why these things happen.

It very clearly feels like a Part 1 of a trilogy, which, I guess hopefully it does well enough to warrant sequels now.. since we're basically in the same position as Shaw, with wanting to know WHY all this shit happened. We don't know why the Engineers want to wipe out humanity.. we don't know why they've got a bunch of ships containing WMDs.. we really don't know anything at the end of the movie that we didn't already know or assume at the beginning; that these Engineers created life on Earth, and presumably elsewhere in the galaxy as well. That's it. Beyond that, the movie was just one long suspense ride.

Which I'm fine with. It seems like it should bother me more than it did, but I think the fact that the main character is left asking these same questions at the end and the clear setup for sequels makes up for it in a weird way.

The look at the proto-xenomorph was cool at the end, but it leaves me with even more questions.

Ok, so we've got these Engineers, and they've got a lot of these ring ships on this moon. I thought the movie would end with it crashing on LV-426, but that clearly didn't happen. So are there more live Engineers on the other ships on this moon? How does this early form of the xenomorph get from here, to bursting out of an Engineer's chest, on a ring ship that crashed on LV-426?

Lots of questions. I really hope this does well enough for sequels.

Even with all that said, this was still the best sci-fi movie in a very, very long time. Not many people can hold a candle to Ridley Scott when it comes to sci-fi.

Wait, I think maybe there are a lot of references to the Alien universe, but that's about it, so I'm wrong about saying that it has nothing to do with the Alien universe aside from the last part.
And I didn't see the part before the scientists discover the art. Maybe the engineers engineered the humans after all.

I saw it today, really liked it.

If you went in expecting the mindless action of Aliens, you'll be disappointed.
However, Liefeld is an enigma wrapped in a pouch-filled, muscular, footless conundrum.

Exactly, the Alien vs Predator material is mostly apocrypha,to the Ridley (and Cameron)canon and for all intents is it own alternate continuity.

I liked this more than all of those except Inception, and maybe District 9 - although that one is a toss-up.

I thought it was curious that this is a "prequel", but then weren't the two Aliens Vs. Predator films too?

Out of continuity.

Mainly because they were terrible cash-grabs.. but also because I'm pretty sure Ridley Scott said he ignored them in some interview, as he rightfully should've.

Well, I really enjoyed Prometheus. It wasn't the greatest movie of all time but as Holland previously mentioned, it was definitely one of the best sci-fi movies to come out for a very long time. I think that my biggest complaint was that I found absolutely no sympathy for Noomi Rapace's character, Elizabeth Shaw. That being said, I really enjoyed Michael Fassbender's performance as David. He was a fascinating character from almost the first moment that you saw him and I hated how people were constantly reminding him that he wasn't human.

When the sequels are inevitably released, I suspect that we will discover that the reason why the "Engineers"/Space Jockeys are so hellbent on destroying us, is because they discovered that we are the "worst" weapon that they ever "created."

Yes,she was pretty close to Weaver's Ripley in expressing the right amount of emotion, fear, courage and determination.

You Know? Whan at the end David asked her why she wanted to find out the place from whence the "Engineers" came from I almost expected her to say "to drop this fucking shit on them and eliminate those assholes"
