Cyclops Goes Full Villain in AvX: Thanos Quest and AvX: Thanos: The Final ThreatMarvel finall pulls the trigger on turning Scott Summers into a full fledged villain in the latest round of AvX tie-ins!

Sorry, X-Men fans, but the argument is over. Coming in September from Marvel, Jim Starlin and Ron Lim take Cyclops past the point of no return as the X-Men's misguided leader gathers the Infinity Gems to begin his quest for world mutant domination. It is as yet unrevealed why Cyclops decided to change his name to Thanos, but our best guess is that his first choice of Magneto 2 tested poorly with focus groups.

Meanwhile, back on Earth, Wolverine seamlessly alternates between homicidal maniac and preachy monk, much to the delight of his various teen girl companions. Read about it this September in AvX: Thanos: The Final Threat #1 and AvX: Thanos Quest #1. Here's the press release:

Thanos Reigns Supreme in THANOS: THE FINAL THREAT #1 and THANOS QUEST #1 – Out This September!

Jim Starlin and Ron Lim continue the son of Titan's quest for power in Thanos Quest #1! Except this time, he's looking destroy half the population of the universe, and rule all he surveys! And with a cover featuring the concept art from Marvel's The Avengers by Andy Park, no fan can miss out!

Finally – don't miss out as Thanos deals the Avengers a mighty blow in the pages of Avengers Assemble #7 by the chart topping creative team of Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley! Jim Starlin's one trick horse returns in a story he's already done (a few times). No thanks.

Add in Ron Lim on art and it becomes: No fuckin' way.

Those two are reprints, per Newsarama, the responsible fount of journalism

http://www.newsarama.com/comics/thanos-avengers-assemble-reprints-september.html

Both Thanos: The Final Threat #1 — containing 1977's Avengers Annual #7 and Marvel Two-In-One Annual #2, from that same year — and Thanos Quest #1, a two-issue 1990 miniseries, are getting reprints in a one-shot format. Thanos creator Jim Starlin wrote all of the above stories, and illustrated both tales in The Final Threat. Ron Lim illustrated Thanos Quest, before drawing subsequent Thanos stories like Infinity Gauntlet (second half), Infinity War and Infinity Crusade.

Andy Park's Thanos concept art for The Avengers movie will be featured as the cover to the Thanos Quest reprint.

It'll be nice to see Thanos as the badass he's supposed to be one last time, before he gets all Disneyfied by Bendis and his gang.

Yes, they're reprints of famous stories. :P

You can't blame me though, the official press release also makes no mention of this, I believe because they want it to be ambiguous.

Obviously, you're some skinny, single nerd living on the East Coast who probably derives value in life from wrestling matches, hoping that Wolverine gets to sleep with teenagers and engaging in casual drug use. You're literally the worst thing to happen to comics since Stan Lee.

Hasn't he already been a villain for years? In fact, aren't most of the X Men? They are a cult of extremests in a compound and instead of hoarding guns, they are hoarding death beams.

Shh...quiet, lad. The cult of X-Men runs strong in this house. Rationality holds no strength here.

Depends on if they are murdered or commit suicide.

Getting wasted by the Feds after you killed four of them doesn't count as being murdered.

It can however, be considered suicide. Though it Korresh and his f**kard that set their own sorry @$$es on fire, and not the Feds.
