Pantha Sellz Out at Dynamite, Yo!Dynamite keepin ' it real as Pantha #1 sold out of at local comic shops, muthaf@#$%^!

Yeeeeeaaaaaaah boooooyyyyyyyy! Pantha, from Dynamite Entertainment, dropped on June 6, and suckaz waz linin' up around da block to... wait, what? Pantha isn't Dynamite's urban take on Marvel's Black Panther charac... well no, we just assumed... of course not, well we didn't mean... no, we're not rac... Ok, sorry.

Anyway, Pantha is apparently a Vampirella spinoff about an ancient Egyptian woman cursed to live forever and never wear modest clothing as punishment for a killing spree. The book is drawn by Pow Rodrix, who, based on his name, should have been in a hair metal band, and written by Brandon Jerwa, who commented (paraphrased) "What? This sold out? But it's Dynamite?"

Pantha #2 hits stores next month. Here's the press release:

PANTHA #1 SELLS-OUT AT DYNAMITE!

GOING TO A SECOND PRINTING!

June 18h, 2011, Runnemede, NJ - Dynamite proudly announces Pantha #1 is sold-out and is going back to a second printing. Written by Brandon Jerwa and drawn by Pow Rodrix, with covers by Mark Texiera and Sean Chen!  First appearing in Vampirella #30, Pantha is an ally of Vampirella is an ancient Egyptian cursed to live forever by the gods because of a killing spree she had gone on in ancient times.

In Pantha #1, Pantha stalks the night, driving the forces of Chaos from the shadows and hunting them down like prey! Much more than a feral shapeshifter, Pantha is also an avatar for the Egyptian goddess Sekhmet - and she's going to learn that history can repeat in a violent, terrifying way! Featuring the return of several heroes and villains from the pages of PANTHA and VAMPIRELLA, "Dangerous Game" will be an important cornerstone for the future of Dynamite's epic Vampirella universe!

"When I found out that Pantha #1 sold it, it was a very pleasant surprise," says Pantha writer Brandon Jerwa.  "We tried to give this book its own identity, separate from VAMPIRELLA but still in the same universe. Hopefully, we've achieved that."

"I am so proud of the sell-out of Pantha #1, as we endeavored to give her the same long term planning we have given Vampirella," says Dynamite Entertainment President and Publisher Nick Barrucci. "All of the hard work from Brandon, Pow! and our team has paid off, and our fans will continue to be thrilled as more issues come out!"

Be sure to pick up Pantha #1 at a comic book store near you and also remember to remind your retailer to order enough copies of Pantha #2 (MAY121046), Pantha #3 (JUN121053), and Pantha #4 (JUL120962)!

It was a decent enough comic but the Tex' cover is definitely the best part of it. Probably won't buy it past the first story arc though. $4 bucks is too much to pay when the cover is the main reason I'm buyin' it.

The only thing wrong with the way she dresses is that she wears too much. A little less covered would be better.

Fixed.

Seriously though, sadly I've dropped many Dynamite books (and Marvel too) and not picked others up when they went to the $3.99 price point and not added any new content. I don't mind DC's $3.99 books as they have extra stories that are often related to the main stories in them.
