That was really good. I didn't read the first mini but this issue was really good. Review sometime tomorrow.

Sure I'll be the only one to review this book.

Story doesn't need introduction to the characters though I might go back and read the previous mini. I like the idea of a vampire cure turning people into worse monsters and the story is easy to follow...it even feels like a Mignola book. Cold and slow but a good slow.

This was a fun book. I don't know if the main character has been in other stuff before, but I haven't read it if he has. It was pretty easy to get a handle on Lord Baltimore though - badass monster killer, tortured past, looking for vengeance. We were introduced to a fishing village where there are only women, children, and old men because a mad scientist in the nearby town has captured all their menfolk and turned them into monsters. Monsters who Lord Baltimore kills. Pretty standard stuff, but like I said, fun. There are a few twists at the end to keep things interesting. This is a two parter, and I'm definitely interested in reading the next part.

The art was your standard Dark Horse stuff: heavy lines, dark shadows, washed out colors. It's a style that works.

Out of the element of the superhero stuff I generally read, but the Outhouse Dark Horse Review Group has been introducing me to a lot of good new stuff lately.

I'll give it a 9.

Lord Baltimore is a fun character to read about. He comes across as your standard monster hunter, but the standard of anything isn't necessarily as bad thing -- there's a reason why things become a standard. As long as a standard character is well written then it'll work. The same thing can be said about the story itself. There isn't anything new or groundbreaking here, but it's well written and fun.

I'll give this an 8 out of 10.

If there was going to be a complaint about a Mignolaverse comic it would be that they sometimes can feel a bit samey and repetitive, but that would be a stupid complaint because the comics are so. damn. good.

With this being the third Baltimore series the formula is pretty well established. Drop LB without setup into a new village, meet the townsfolk, fight monsters. With the first two minis being 5 issues things happened at a bit slower pace than here in Leskovar which will just be 2 issues. Faster pace + cliffhanger = more awesomer Baltimore comics.

With Guy Davis moving on to other things, Ben Stenbeck is now the best Mignolaverse artist not named Mignola. Great storytelling, great lines. Dave Stewart's colors are naturally perfect as Dave Stewart is a coloring badass.
