As the first movie of Marvel's Phase Two, what moves will Iron Man 3 spearhead?

Beginning in 2013, Iron Man 3 will be the start of Marvel's Phase Two. During a podcast(they start talking about it at the twenty-one minute mark) Gabe Toro shared details on what the movie and what it means for the Marvel film universe.

So I'm going to give some space for those who wish not to be spoiled further.

Okay dokey we already know Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, and Jon Favreau will be reprising their roles of Tony Stark/Iron Man, Pepper Potts, James Rhodes/War Machine, and Happy Hogan.

Pepper Potts will have a real small role in this movie and Justin Hammer (as played by Sam Rockwell) won't be appearing in the movie.

The new addition to the cast for this story will be S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill (as played by Cobie Smulders in The Avengers) will be taking over the role Agent Phil Coulson had in watching over Mr. Stark. Originally, Black wanted Val Kilmer (and thus having a small Kiss Kiss Bang Bang reunion along with Black and Downey Jr) to be in the film playing a lesser-known S.H.I.E.L.D. agent (I couldn't understand the name said in the podcast, but the link above isn't the right name given). Unfortunately scheduling conflicts prevented this and thus Maria Hill character would be used instead. William Sadler will an American General who works with James Rhodes/War Machine.

So what of Ben Kingsley's role? Is he really going to be the Mandarian? Toro said during the podcast that yes Kingsley will play a version of the character.

Now for the real juicy stuff Andy Lau, (who has now left the film) was set to play Chen Lu, who Marvel fans would recognize as the Radioactive Man. His connection to the film would have linked to another Marvel movie project, Edgar Wright's long hampered and delayed Ant-Man. It's still unknown if the role has been recast or if this idea has been dropped completely.

More  speculation from the podcast said that the end credit scene in Iron Man 3 will still be based around Henry Pym and that Wright will be directing it. Their reasoning to this is a comment Wright made earlier this year.

The podcast also talks of Thor 2 (including the possiblity of a major Marvel character debuting in it) and early ideas of Captain America 2.

This wasn’t always going to be the plan, apparently, and director Shane Black wanted Val Kilmer to play Al MacKenzie, a lesser-known S.H.I.E.L.D. agent/CIA liason from the Marvel Comics. You can see the obvious connection between Shane Black, Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer from Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. That would have been great casting, but Kilmer had scheduling conflicts.
