Nah they're so giving it to someone who has written a solo hero in the past. Who's runs are so well remembered. Someone who knows how to handle a book for a lengthy run. To give us FRESH new villains or allies for Batman to face and confront. Someone like.. Howard Mackie.

It was the book that starred the not-Batman Batman and didn't do too great sales-wise. I'm not saying that run wasn't brilliant, but it wasn't flagship (and this fact makes me sad about the super hero comics market).

except at the time it wasn't, the flagship/running the entire bat line book were Batman/Batman and Robin/Batman Inc.. When Snyder was writing Detective it was not the flagship, whatever book Morrison was writing was, since he was in control of the Batman line at the time. Now Snyder is in control of it.

Except everybody still has to react to whatever insanity Morrison is putting in Batman, Inc. Snyder, Tomasi and whoever are going to be writing the other two Bat books will have to incorporate Morrison's decisions.

I would argue that they can now pretty much run whatever they want with the exception of crossovers.
