Not a lot of action this issue but several hints of other characters and teasers about what has already happened to some of them and the current heroes.
And a fun last page reveal ... although some of you may be griping aboutthe re-design :P

This was surprisingly enough the best issue of the series. And I would say that stuff does happen here. Just as surprisingly, Worlds' Finest #3 was the best issue of that series so far, thanks in large part to Kevin Maguire, who has a virtuoso performance here in the flashback scenes, with his use of expressions, that one panel nod to the Amanda Connor Power Girl in semi-classic costume, the nod to PG's Cat, and other things like the expression on Kara's face as she's using her x-ray vision to look at guys...

Even the ending homage to Toho monster movies was amusing, though that was Perez.

But back to Earth 2, we get introduced to Alan as GL, and he actually has a costume that doesn't suck. We get some good Hawkgirl/Flash byplay, complete with references to Dr. Fate. We get the villain, Rot/Grundy. We get the villain making his move and GL fighting him, making his public debut. I'd call that a lot of movement for one issue.

I like the ties, thematically, that it may have to a couple of other NuDC titles I'm currently enjoying. I'm not in love with GL's new look...it needs some contrast. But as for the last page reveal, I'm embracing that completely. Robinson is back and in fine form.

It was touching what Alan used to form his GL ring from. And his pledge to Sam in the body bag scene.

did we read a different Earth 2?? GL never actually fought anyone, he saved the people in the train accident, but Grundy never made his move on GL, and GL didn't fight him..

I like the Hellraiser style Grundy.

I hope Fate in is the next issue.
However, Liefeld is an enigma wrapped in a pouch-filled, muscular, footless conundrum.

You're correct. I misinterpreted that scene. Still, it was his public debut, and set the stage for next ish.

Was it just me or did Grundy look very similar to Nekron?

Also, I was sort of disappointed with the full look of Alan Scott's costume. The cover made it look very promising but it almost looked as though it wasn't finished. Oh well, at least is wasn't as bad as some of the other redesigns.

I like the design and the glowing Lantern chest emblem, but it could use some variation. Either different shades of green, or a splash of some other color.
