The Detective Comics writer/artist still has a job at DC.

Despite writing/pencilling what's widely considered to be one of the most mediocre runs on Batman and Detective Comics ever, Bleeding Cool has reported that Tony S. Daniel has renewed his exclusive contract with DC. His run on Detective Comics, which was largely a top ten seller during the last ten months, was seen as a sign that a Batman book will sell, no matter who's writing it.
Despite the criticism about his writing abilities, Daniel is a pretty decent artist when he's not also responsible for writing and people were cautiously optimistic about his upcoming stint on Justice League. With DC bringing in new talent such as John Layman and Justin Jordan as well as continuing to turn books over to writing luminaries such as Rob Liefeld and Scott Lobdell, perhaps Daniel will get to focus more on art duties than trying to write as well.
