Well I'm glad I read Fantastic Four #608 before I read this, because it sets up the events here nicely, as well as giving us a clue what Black Panther will be doing when Hickman's running the Avengers show. Shame this part did indeed suck.

The writing was very uneven, there was no sense of danger or urgency when Charles enters Scotts mind as a tease for next issue and the last page of Cap being asked if he has a plan...yeah this issue ended with a thud.

I would love to see what T'Challa does to Namor for what he did to his country. I guarantee you it won't be pretty.

Not the best issue but Namor getting a much deserved beatdown for flooding Wakanda was worth it.

I will agree that the issue ended with a bit of a whimper... that being said I have enjoyed this event a lot.

Well I have always said how shitty the writing has been with AVX from earlier on, so no surprises. It's like Marvel decided to mix Civil War with the Phoenix Saga and got a very non-cohesive mixture.

The shit really hits the fan in this issue, as Phoenix-Namor attacks Wakanda and tears it up. The action sequences in this issue were excellent, Adam Kubert delivers some his best work in a while, and to me, this issue was reaching almost Walt Simonson-levels of bombast. The guy’s a Marvel (and X-Men) legend so it’s great to see him return to these characters. The events of this issue were epic really, and I think it was a good choice to have Namor be the Phoenix who snaps, he’s not exactly a hero at the best of times, so you don’t have the whole ‘out of character’ debate that you’d have if it was Cyclops leading the charge. Plus there’s the added element of him being a former Avenger. By the end of this issue, Namor gets depowered by the Scarlet Witch, and we’re down to a Phoenix Four, but they’re just even more powerful. Let’s hope that whatever the Avengers are planning in K’Un Lun works. It’s also very cool that Professor X is back in the mix and going against Scott, that should be a very interesting plotline.

Why she doesn't just say "No more mutants - and this time I mean ALL mutants, not just the ones that don't star in X-Men comic books" is beyound me.

Because a Phoenix host doesn't necessarily have to be a mutant.
