Okay.. so let's follow DC Philosophy on a Marvel comic, what happens when Miles Morales is put away in the back and Ultimate Peter Parker returns. What happens to those fans Miles gained? Are they to be tossed aside and suck it in because their character was replaced by the more "iconic" one?.

Overzealous? The moment Stephanie Brown fans become like H.E.A.T. and start issuing death threats on Gail Simone ala poor Ron Marz is the day you are correct in that assumption. Until then, they are what they are.. fans. Nothing more. Vocal ones yes, but then in this day and age of internet anyone can be vocal.

But overzealous? Hardly. Overzealous is what H.E.A.T. did in the 90s barely without an internet. Overzealous is refusing to sketch characters of a certain era. Overzealous is denying growth and stamping out any creativity one era had.

In a few years will Jaime remain as Blue Beetle? Will Damian be around? I really don't know because how the current regime of DC bungles their next generation of heroes. It's not even been ten years and we've had two origins of Jaime. We've had how many of Superman?

Honestly, I understand that there are fans--not you, of course--who are only interested female comic characters of masturbation aids and assume that any character who has breasts smaller than her head must be a child (even if they're in college, as Brown was), but that doesn't mean other readers do. Or even that most do.

Its not logic. The fanbases are completely different, the character is completely different, and the fanbase's reputation is completely different. I understand what you're trying to do, but it doesn't work in this instance.

And the idea that the fanbase's reputations are completely different is 1) irrelevant to the analogy, 2) a red herring--just because some DC exec and some forum trolls have lined up on this one doesn't mean her reputation, or her fans' reputation, is a problem generally, 3) ignores the treatment given the two characters. If Tim had been tortured to death and then denied even the flimsy tribute of a batcave memorial, his fans would have been equally upset. If he had then been benched so that the more iconic Dick could go back to being Robin, both his fans and Greyson's would be making a lot more noise than Cain and Brown fans have been.

Well what's look at this way. What if Dan Didio had gotten his way and Geoff Johns didn't talk him out of demanding Dick Grayson be killed in Infinite Crisis. Just think of the fanbase reaction to that one.

The worst part about this whole thing is that I'm reminded that Smallville Season 11 is the best Superman comic (including Superboy and Supergirl) that DC is putting out.
