Me too, I get choked up listening to Pa Kent. That's advice we could all live by to some degree. I'm bummed out by Crowe's dialogue and the return of Donner's messiah complex where Jor-El is sending him to save us from ourselves by setting a good example. It's a little too on the nose, and it's hard to take anything that reminds me of Brando-El seriously after Megamind.
Byrne did it best when Jor-El sent him to Earth so Kal-El could be exposed to the humanity that Krypton had abandoned long ago. Humanity saves Kal-El and he returns the favour when he grows up and becomes Superman. But who knows? Maybe Jor-El isn't talking about humanity in general joining Superman in the sun, maybe it's other superheroes?
I like all the fish boating stuff, reminds me of Hugo Danner in the Caribbean. My only complaint about the visuals was during the flying scene. Just before Superman breaks the sound barrier, he should have raised both his arms in front of him and used his fists to make the last sonic boom. It's more dramatic, and he actually moves so Superman would look alive instead of like a mannequin in free fall shot upside down.
