Ed Brubaker Endorses Marvel’s .99 Price Point

Who's Marvel's Good Little Lackey...

Source: @brubaker

Today, August 6, on Twitter, Ed Brubaker, writer of a bunch of books you’ve read, stated:

In the July comics top 20 sales, only 4 comics cost less than $3.99. So for all the complaining, that's what's selling.

Brubaker, whose $2.99 Winter Soldier came in 84th place in July and who is leaving Marvel (kinda) in order to focus on creator-owned work might have been laying the groundwork for when he has to return to Marvel due to his $2.99 Fatale and $3.50 Incognito comic books not selling as well as their $4 counterparts, due obviously to their inferior price points.

Another, more nefarious, theory is that Ed Brubaker has become a corporate lackey who is only there to toe the company line of “higher prices sell comic books” for which he allegedly receives a kickback from every $3.99 marvel comic book sold.  There is no evidence to support this theory, but none has been presented that discounts it either.

Hopefully the standard bearers of comic book journalism over at Newsarama can shed some light on these developments.

Update: Mr. Brubaker has denied the serious accusations leveled in this article, insinuating via retweet that The Outhouse, a reputable publication that strives for 100% acurate factual reporting, is "horseshit,"  which indicates that one could purchase 6.75 pounds of The Outhouse for the same price as a comic book. As it turns out, Ed Brubaker may actually not have been endorsing higher priced comics. The Outhouse apologizes for jumping the gun.

Meanwhile, another Marvel fat cat, Jonathan Hickman, has confirmed exclusively via tweet that Brubaker is  a prostitute and hates animals.

@brubaker - Dear Ed, when did you become a whore? Also, why do hate animals?

The Outhouse learns from its mistakes, so we are waiting for more definitive proof before presenting these new accusations as fact, but we do find it curious that Brubaker has not specifcally presented evidence proving that he has never exchanged money for sexual favors. Stay tuned.
