Tablet opinions

Postby guitarsmashley » Mon Aug 06, 2012 6:42 pm

So I recently got a decent sized inheritance from my grandmother passing and instead of buying the outhouse and banning everyone I have decided to pay off massive credit card debts and play...a little bit. I want a tablet to read comics on mostly and start giving my macbook a slow down.

An Ipad is out of the question unless I got a good used one...maybe I should check CL...A kindle Fire is more likely but more likely a used one off ebay or CL.

Are there any other tablets that the OH approves of?

I use a 32gb Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. I loves it. The Galaxy Tab 2 is out and its a lot nicer and operates Android 4.

Edit mine is wifi only.

Yoni..

The nexus 7.

Same price, roughly, as a Kindle Fire, but it's been better-reviewed just about everywhere. It's probably the best mini tablet out right now.

$199 for the 8 GB
$249 for the 16 GB

I hated it. Too small and slow. I upgraded to the Galaxy Tab because I wanted a bigger screen for reading.

I recommend something w/ a 10 inch screen for comics and movies. If its in your price range that is.

Just get an iPad. Battery life is one of the key drivers of the tablet market.

Apple is heavily rumored to release a mini iPad this fall, which would compete in both size and price with stuff like the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire.

The Nexus 7 looks killer, but I really wish it had an SD card slot. The lack of one makes loading up comics, especially a lot of them at once, just a little harder.

I've got a Nook Tablet, which I've been happy with. It's not blazing fast, but it's fine for reading comics (either from an SD card or the B&N store), watching movies (Netflix or from an SD card), and light web browsing.
