The Outhouse is starting a preemptive petition to save Joss Whedon's Avengers Universe television show from cancellation.

Disney announced at a conference call today that fan favorite director Joss Whedon would be returning for a sequel to the mega-hit The Avengers, which grossed $1.46 billion at the box office this summer. Easily overlooked alongside this huge news was an announcement that Whedon would also oversee a television show for ABC that will take place in the Marvel Movie-verse. The characters that will be featured in the show, as well as the premise, are as of yet unknown.

While Whedon directing another Avengers movie is obviously cause for rejoice, many fans are worried that the television show may suffer from "The Whedon Curse," which causes television programs Whedon is involved with to be canceled after only one or two seasons, despite high quality and a loyal fanbase.

The Outhouse hates to see fans suffer like the Browncoats, fanatical fans of Whedon's popular Firefly, also known as Firebronies, have for the past decade since their beloved space western was canceled, after only one season, by Fox. The network appears to have a personal vendetta against Mr. Whedon, as it also canceled Dollhouse in 2010. Some rumors even suggest that the only reason the new Whedon show is being produced by Disney is so that it can later be canceled as a show of good faith to Fox in their Daredevil movie right negotiations. Fox might be more inclined to return the movie rights to the characters Silver Surfer and Galactus to Disney if they can experience the delight of seeing another Whedon show canceled too soon as part of the deal. In any case, it is clear that drastic action must be taken if fans want to see the show last longer than its ill-fated predecessors.

With that in mind, The Outhouse has decided to preemptively strike out against Hollywood fat cats and other 1%ers that want to deprive Whedon fans of the witty repartee and obligatory favorite character death that they crave by starting an online petition to save the new show from cancellation before it even begins production. We only hope that we have not waited too long.
