Start with the original that was made in the early 50s. The current DVD release of it has the original Japanese (which is Perry Mansonless for one) and then there's the American dubbed version which has Perry. The Japanese one is superior for the reason it's a history note to the abuse of nuclear power and what it might do to people.

After that check out Godzilla Raids Again which is the sequel also made in the 50s. Again two versions and I really suggest seeing the Japanese one given the American version is called Gigantas the Fire Monster, cuts out some important scenes, and switches the monsters' trademark howls and growls.

About the only thing that is positive a young George Takei is one of the voice dubbers in the movie.

After that depends if you want uber cheesy which is the rest of the 60s and 70s flicks or more dark which are the 80s, 90s, and 00s films.

Just don't ever see the American film called Godzilla. It's a bastardization that really should be called the Beast from 20,000 Fanthoms not Godzilla.

The 60s weren't all bad. Godzilla vs. Mothra has Big G's best introduction (Coming out of the ground). The fight with the big moth is still pretty damn cool.

But then, I'm biased. My first 1 was King Kong vs. Godzilla (On TV) in all of it's goofiness. Been hooked ever since.

Probably one of my favorite G battles. Like it even better than the MechaGhidrah fight at the end.

What do you think of the 2000 series? I notice that it doesn't get alot of talk on Godzilla boards. I'm not a fan, but some of the fights are o.k.
