I think Dark Knight fails in holding up with that dialogue. I cringe these days if I read any of it.
Year One is timeless to me and holds up well.

DKR is one of those books that you feel that it's your duty as a fan to read. It's a chore though. Important, but just cluttered. The casting of Superman as super fascist seems like a cheat with the obvious right wing slant of having Batman become more like Dirty Harry in this one.
Year One is streamlined and resembles Miller's Daredevil work back when he wasn't unstable.

OH, you missed the Batgrrl thread, that BG. used to visit?
The Goblins Thread?
The Doom Thread?
Also, all the times that Zechs has attempted to seize power here from Lord Simian?

Zechs recently made claims to rule the Newstand here.
Of course, this lead to an Asylum thread being renamed from "Is the Overlords Drunk with Power?" to "Is Zechs Drunk?" .

DKR.
Year One's fine, but there really isn't anything unexpected there. Honestly, it's a bit of a bore.

Yr 1 is FAR superior as an actual exercise in storytelling. and more enjoyable too.
I think Yr 1 is far superior as an actual exercise in storytelling
but TLH is more fun. I dont care where he "stole" stuff from.
