Superman.
V was ok. Not having read the comic, I can't rate it in that light. So it was just an OK movie...seemed like something was lost in the translation to the screen. Or maybe because of the passage of time. 10 years ago, it would have been amazing. Today, it's just ok.
X3 I liked. I could have liked it a lot better, though, and I feel like I should have. It was a decent hack job of some good X-Men stories It suffered from having too much, from trying to please too many different groups. The studio, the fans, the actors. Hit many of the right notes, just, when sounded together, don't sound as good as you thought they would.
Superman Returns delivered a lot of what it promised. Action, super action, story (there's good and bad about that) and setting this up as a smash franchise it should have been all along. It may not ring totally true to a 60+ year old comic character, but it does ring true to a 20 year old movie character based on a comic character. Suffers in the wany many comic characters themselves suffer...inability to provide a sufficiently intersting and challenging adversary. As a first movie, some of that can be forgiven...Batman Begins, Spider Man, etc. Spider Man 2 hit a sweet note with Doc Ock. We'll expect more when Superman Returns Again...Again.
