That explains it.

That's one of the cool things about traveling. You get to try all kinds of local beers. Most stuff is available in New York, but sometimes if you go to Boston or Philly, you can go to bars where they make their own stuff right in the building. I love places like that.

microbrews are cool, but sometimes you get the shittiest beer, and sometimes it's hella expensive.

Most American beers don't appear here because if it's popular, it's most likely being brewed by either Molson or Labatt (like Bud and Bud Lights, Coors, that lot) becuase they're owned by American companies or are in partnership with them. Those are the sucky American beers though. They do import Sam Adams here. I found some Dos Equis in the liquor store the other day. I like that beer.

Damn, I miss drinking.

Labatte's Blue was always my beer of choice and for mixed drink.

A Manhattan or several.

Man, what's up with you Americans and Blue?

Well at least I know if I ever have to buy you a beer, we can settle on a pitcher of Blue :)

What can we say? We love the Blue. Weird thing though, the past few times I was in Chicago I couldn't find Labatt to save my life. Every bar I was in up there didn't have Labatt.

I didn't see it in Texas at all, but then again, I didn't go to any beer stores, just the 7-11 by Nate's house.

Maybe it doesn't get out that far? It's weird because Chicago's close to Canada.

That's why I thought it was weird also.

Almost every bar around here has it, as well as all liquor stores. And they can keep it, I'm afraid; this is one American who is just not a fan of the blue.

Actually, the bar I go to regularly has been having supply issues with their distibutor, which means that I can't try new beers there like I like to do. Lately, it's been black and tan variants for me. A new favorite is the Samuel L Jackson (Guiness and Wittekerke).

A NON favorite? The Black and White Trash (Guiness and PBR). *Shudder*

My father-in-law loves PBR's and is always wanting me to have one because he knows I can't stand the stuff. I always come back back with, "I'd rather stick my lips on a Busch." It always makes him laugh.

I've got cool in-laws.

I had a Rickard's White with an orange slice. Yummy, it's like drinking a nice creamy drink, but it fills you up like cream.
