Borrowed the first volume of Alan Moore's Swamp Thing from a friend.

Was this the new hardcover edition? Has anyone bought the hardcover edition? Great run on the series but what was with the sticky cover and '80s-style paper quality? I bought Daredevil: Born Again along with ST hardcover and it looks so much better.

With the Deluxe and Omnibus products from DC, they have taken the approach of publishing the books on paper similar to what the original comics were printed on. While some fans hate them because they are not the slick stock used currently, some fans like myself enjoy seeing them in a way that is close to how they were originally presented. It is nice to have the paper stay white and to have the colors brought up a bit. Personally I love them.

The sticky cover is very weird and I have no idea what it was all about.

Thank the gods. I figured I was the only person who ended up with a sticky Swamp Thing dust jacket. I almost sent it back thinking it was defective.
