Here's a preview of T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents #1.

Written by NICK SPENCER; Art by CAFU & BIT; Cover by FRANK QUITELY 1:10 Variant cover by DARWYN COOKE

Would you rather burn out or fade away? That's the question at the heart of this bold new series about a group of people who, for one reason or another, are at their wits' end until they're offered a chance to become superheroes. The catch? Their powers will kill them.

Writer Nick Spencer (Morning Glories) and artist CAFU (WAR OF THE SUPERMEN) present a fresh take on the classic comics property, starring a new batch of recruits brought in to take over the original agents' mantles and make some difficult choices of their own – all while dealing with global threats the rest of the DCU doesn't even know exist!

This seems a bit like The Order, which can only be a good thing, and only confirms my belief that Nick Spencer is the new Matt Fraction.

CAFU is brilliant too, I was praising him a lot when he was doing Captain Atom in Action Comics, and he just gets better.

He did some nice work on a Vixen mini-series with G. Willow WIlson.

I think it looks like a crossover with The Order and Checkmate. I'm seriously considering getting this now. I'll wait to read some reviews of issue 1.

WTF is this rank?

Definitely a must buy for me. I've been tracking down the Archives. Love the concept and this looks fantastic.

I would still've loved to've seen Marc Andreyko's aborted launch.

That's definitely the vibe I got from the first issue. It was fast-paced, fun, and kept me guessing. This could very well fill the void left when The Order ended. However, I have a feeling this series won't be long for this world, especially if it doesn't take place in the DCU proper. Does anybody know if it does?

SO HAS ANYBODY ELSE READ THIS YET?

Supposedly it's in the DCU and the first issue was one of the best debuts of the year.

Read it and loved it. Can see the Order within it but I happened to like this 1st issue better than the former.
