Savage Hulk #1
Alan Davis writes and draws a blockbuster story pitting the Hulk against... the X-Men!?!?! Learn the startling secret of Professor Xavier's connection to Bruce Banner! Guest starring the Leader and the Abomination !

It's pretty rare I pick up a Marvel title, but I grabbed this one today for 2 reasons:
1) I'm a big Alan Davis fan
and
2) I have serious fondness for the 1960s X-Men team

Davis doesn't disappoint on either front. I suspect he researched many of the X-Men issues from back then as the dialogue perfectly mirrors the tone of each character's Silver Age persona.
His art is beautiful as always and fits this well on this title, especially as I have always thought his style strongly resembles Neal Adams. Matt Hollingsworth also deserves praise for some eye-popping colors that also help keep the period mood in focus.
It seemed like a rather quick read but I can attribute that to my eagerness as I read this. Issue #2 will definitely be on my Buy List !
