Look what I found

Doing some cleaning I ran across a sketch book that I started 15 years ago, barely remember having it. Those were fun times. Anyhow, take a look...

Anyhow, I am most proud of that there hand and the mountaineer.
Most of the cartoon work looks like maybe I had a book of some sort. There are shapes imprinted on the bristol board. I was wondering if anyone recognized those characters, it would help me track down what ever I was using - I don't think I am artistically creative enough to have done them on my own.

Or if anyone has a really good recommendation for a good how to cartooning book - you know besides McCloud or Eisner...

no, there is a title on that one... It says John Lennon 1965.

Here's a photo I found on line:

...although, he looks a little more like an emaciated Roy Orbinson.

Yeah, or one of the Beetles.

Lennon was my first guess, but it evoked the "Simply Irresistible" video so strongly.

Some of these drawings, but especially this one, look like something Charles Bukowski would have drawn. He's known more for his poetry. But he did do quite a few sketches. Crude looking, but very stark. Go to http://www.bukowski.net and take a gander of some of his scribblings.
