Thanks Topo. I like the stuff you've been doing lately as well. For me going back to acrylics after being loss in oils is a nice breather!

Here's the final version of Floyd.

Working on this.
When I have it inked, I'll scan it properly

Nice. The wings will be a biatch as they usually are but if a person chooses not to skip out on them I find the efforts are usually worthy. I just came across a couple of winged sketches/concepts not to long ago....then I think I buried them again.

The "wings" are very weird and organic on my design (to my own frustration). I think I redrew the basic geometry like 7 times for each one.

What types of textures are you considering for them?

Metal is the go to texture for something like this for sure. But have you thought of maybe adding a twist on it? (not to confuse with twisted metal, hah).

Have you ever looked at olmec temples/statues? The carvings and shapes they produce?

I don't want to intrude on your vision of this piece as your it's creator, just a suggestion. The wings as you've designed them almost seem like the could be bio-mechanical, or steampunk even.

Hah, you can thank these two pieces I did for the suggestion:

Image

One was from my studies of Olmec/aztec stuff in Art history and the other was from my love of Kung Fu ficks and a heavy dose of Avatar: T.L.A episodes!
