Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Hockey Jesus himself: John Tavares.

Two consecutive four-point games, five goals in two game, a hat trick on Saturday...

And then no games for four days. I hate the October schedule.
The witness said Mr Brown then called out to Ms Hay's adult daughter: "Look at this, I'm tittie-f***ing your mother!".

Yes, topo, that was a bullshit call on Ovechkin.

Pretty goal by Giroux though.;)

Scott Hartnall is killing us.

Nice goals by the Caps in taking advantage of some egregious mental lapses.

Islanders down 1-0 in Tampa Bay in the 2nd. They are pretty sloppy right now, and Tampa Bay is looking very focused.

Flyers looked good in the second, but have played very sloppy hockey. And they've paid for it. Hats off to the Caps.

I think you were right: the four-day break had a negative effect on the Islanders. Focused or not, the Lightning feature one of the worst group of defensemen in the league in terms of defensive zone play. Yet, in the parts of the game I watched, the Islanders rarely used their speed to exploit them.

They finally won a game! Against Detroit! Ryan Johansen with two points! Steve Mason had a good statistical line too. Of course this game might be a blip instead of a trend but the Blue Jackets need a productive second line and a steady Steve Mason if they are going to make the playoffs.

To be fair, Steve Mason has been neither the problem nor the solution this year. Bad turnovers and crappy defense has been the culprits behind our losses, not subpar goaltending (although Mason hasn't exactly pulled out any wins for us yet).

Also, the second line issues have been ridiculous, considering they all got contract extensions during the off-season.

Oh well, now that Wiz is back, our unprecedented 74 game win streak is about to start.

The NHLPA rejects the league's proposal to switch to a four-conference system! Discuss.

In other (non)news the Blue Jackets, Islanders, and Oilers could be fighting for the No. 1 pick in the 2012 Entry Draft. :-(

There was no reason for them to do that. I bet they tried to extort the league and it backfired.

I can't believe the Rangers are so good. They are making me nervous. I'm just not used to it.

I would think there are more important issues for the players to take a stand on.

Neither can I. I am happy that Callahan and Girardi became such good NHL players. They were hard workers (and great players) back in junior hockey but expectations were set fairly low for their pro careers. It seems the Rangers management put together just the right mix of talented shooters and gritty checkers.

NHLPA to Winnipeg Jets fans: "Drop Dead!" Seriously, this is all on Donald Fehr, and the precursor to the next lockout.

As to the Islanders, I'm guessing it's going to be a third consecutive fifth overall pick. They just broke their winning streak (three games) due to playing fairly well for fifty minutes, and then playing stupidly for the last ten.
