I live about 20 miles from the nearest distribution center. I rarely have a problem with damaged discs and turnaround time for me is one day (Send the old disc Monday, new disc sent on Tuesday and received on Wednesday). Redbox or Blockbuster will never be able to beat that service because it is so convenient. I don't have time to drive all over the place to pick up and drop off a movie.
I do hate waiting in line at a Redbox, and a lot of the people are poor/foul-smelling.

I've often wondered how people with bad credit rent from a Redbox. Do they take debit cards?

I don't even know where to find a Redbox. But speaking of bad credit, I was on line at Dunkin Donuts this morning and some lady's credit card was denied when she tried to buy a $4 coolata :smt011

We have Redboxes everywhere, especially at Walgreens & Wal-Mart. (dunno why they have the "Wal" love)

I don't go to the Wal-Mart Redboxes. And if my wife gets pissed off at Wal-Mart again, I may finally convince her to stop going there altogether. :smt026

I'm not a fan of the quality of streaming a netflix movie on my HD. Don't mind it on the ipad or computer if I'm working late. There's a half dozen Redboxes within a mile or two of me, so it's easy to find a movie, rent it online and pick it up while out running errands.

Don't do it as much though since there hasn't been too many movies I care to see this past year, and if I like them I usually just buy the DVD / B-R / Digital combo pack.

Besides with all the Alamo Drafthouses around, I'd rather just go see them in the theater.

You'll have to make some tough sacrifices to pay for it though. One day out of the month, your house will be one degree cooler because you have less money to throw in the furnace. :P

Of course. :?

I never have to wait in line at Redbox, they just hardly ever have anything I would watch.

Also, Netflix DVDs will no longer be delivered as fast when the new USPS rejiggering happens shortly--regardless of whether they eliminate Saturday mail, First Class delivery times will be a minimum of 1-2 days longer anyway.

I still have both. For my needs and desires it is still by far the best and cheapest option.

I might drop the streaming when the Starz thing ends. But I will give Netflix the benefit of the doubt in its claims it will strengthen the streaming library as it starts to lose Starz for now.

I don't use a debit card--I milk the credit cards for their rewards and pay off my balance every month.

Unless I stop by one on the way to work in the morning, there are typically one or two people at any Redbox I've gone to--even if there are dual units.

I occasionally reserve the movie online at Redbox's site, but if you're using a free promo code, you can't reserve it. :x suckafishes

How much is it for streaming only in the US now? And how much is the price increase?

We only have streaming in Canada, but I use it a lot. I don't buy dvds and renting is an expensive waste, so paying $8 a month and streaming upwards of 10 movies a month is a deal. I would probably do more if the internet companies didn't cap bandwidth.

I just put my account on hold and may cancel all together. Their library is getting weaker as their costs rise. If costs were going up as value was going up I'd be all for the new price structure. As it is it makes other forms of internet based content acquisition more appealing.

Since I have gone from never using streaming to watching 5 - 10 shows a week, I think the $4 extra a month is justifiable. I can now catch up on Pawn Stars!! And the kids love The Cosby Show!!
