Lord Simian wrote:I cant wait to see young Luke Jr lose command of the newly recommisioned Millenium Falcon to a coming-out-of-retirement Han Solo, to travel deep into a space cloud to discover the true threat: V'der, a long lost Imperial probe which has gained sentience and searches for The Maker. Luke Jr will use the Force to combine himself with V'der, declaring "I want this, Uncle Han. like you wanted the Falcon, I want THIS."

But then, Disney sequels switch genders, use the main character's opposite-sex child (Simba's daughter, Lady's son, etc.)... Forget Luke Jr. It'll hafta be Luke's daughter, Padme.

I didn't understand a word of this. :P

But the planet was unstable because it used the nebula hence it doing funky stuff in 3.

Kind of disappointed as I truly love his vision for Star Trek and don't want to see him venture from there.

Yes but the issue was that a planet could not be made from dust (he said atomized), basically Genesis (and it's sun!) was made from starstuff.

And protomatter. That's what really screwed it up.

If that's the case, then it would be one hell of a movie as Star Trek was one of the best movies of '09, IMO. It was really great.

I think they're probably going to make him an executive producer to this after this movie so he can oversee the franchise's continuity.

Kinda like what he did after season 1 of Lost before he bailed on it totally. And later on with Fringe.

And what he would've also done later with Undercovers.

I liked it, but its the same as my concerns with him doing Star Wars, it didn't feel like Star Trek to me. Yes it was good, it had all the right pieces, but it was done in such a way that it felt like something completely other than a Star Trek movie. But that is kinda what they were going for with that, so in that sense it was a complete success.

I'm just not sure what his or Kathleen Kennedy's vision or direction are right now for Star Wars.

Despite all the faults of the prequels, i.e. the bad acting, crappy characters, and shitty plots, it still felt like Star Wars to me. It was still a return to what I knew and loved.

I think everyone is going to bitch until they see it, realize how awesome it is, but will still have to complain by saying, "well I knew it had to be better than what Lucas did to I-III".
