Also, reading that Bandai has improved the quality on the line... worth the money more now then before.

Want two of them. :-D

So expensive... but so tempting...

I think what I would want most from that line is that and the zetaplus... :(

It was originally in Sentinels, but that really was just a rework of the Doben Wulf from ZZ. Looks nice.

Yeah saw some others (on the page that graphic was on) comment on that too.

They said it was boring, but I rather like it.

You're playing is more like that of the 10 and under crowd.

Want to see a Highschool of the Dead trailer? Yes you do.

Image

When we heard the news of a Highschool of the Dead anime, animated by Madhouse, many of us were excited. When we also heard that manga would resume publication, we got really excited. Now there's a trailer for Highschool of the Dead. And I don't think you need me to tell you that it's awesome.

For those not in the know, Highschool of the Dead is a manga following the story of group of Japanese students that are caught up in the zombie apocalypse. It's well-known for excessive amounts of violence, gore, and fanservice. Oh, so much glorious fanservice. One of our readers, The dark prince, put up his cblog earlier today that also mentioned the director: Tetsuro Araki, who has worked on Death Note and portions of Aoi Bungaku. The anime is set to air in the upcoming Fall 2010 season. Are you guys excited? Because I sure am.

Check the trailer out below.

Shogun Warriors: The Movie
The Japanese toy line is getting the feature film treatment.
by Jim Vejvoda

March 28, 2010 - The Japanese toy line Shogun Warriors -- licensed in the U.S. by Mattel during the 1970s and '80s, and adapted into both a short-lived series by Marvel Comics and into a mecha anime series from Toei Animation -- is receiving the live-action feature film treatment courtesy of two die-hard fans who also just so happen to be part of Hollywood's special effects industry.

Ain't It Cool News breaks the news that Jules Urbach, founder and CEO of LightStage, will produce Gaiking with visual effects veteran Matthew Gratzner directing it. Gratzner's credits include Shutter Island, Iron Man, Superman Returns, Resident Evil: Extinction, The Fountain, Hancock, War of the Worlds, Pitch Black, Men in Black, Alien: Resurrection, The X-Files, and Armageddon. The site adds that TOEI Studios is backing the film, with WME Entertainment handling the financing and international rights. Just to add to this geekfest, celebrated comic book artist Alex Ross is also said to be "mentoring on the project and will be doing covers for a new Shogun Warriors series that Dynamite is involved in."

Here's a quick refresher course: Although they look like giant robots, the Shogun Warriors are actually giant suits of armor -- mech suits -- piloted by human beings. In the anime series Gaiking, the title character, also known as the Demon Dragon of the Heavens, was invented by Prof. Hightech (Dr. Daimonji in the original series) and piloted by Japanese baseball star Sanshiro Tsuwabuki. The Super Robot Gaiking began as one of the Shogun Warriors, but he later became part of the Americanized anime series Force Five. Gaiking and the Super Robots battled the forces of the Dark Horror Army, alien invaders from the planet Zela.

According to AICN, a live-action interpretation of the Shogun Warriors had originally been intended as a short film in the Heavy Metal remake that David Fincher and James Cameron were developing. After Urbach and Gratzner's efforts received notice, Urbach began acquiring the rights to different characters from the toy line. AICN says the specific characters set to appear in the film will be revealed at this summer's San Diego Comic-Con.

"We talked about how the film isn't just set on Earth... but on other planets in the universe. At one point, 'we'll have more Shogun Warriors than ever appeared in the Marvel Comics' - and that got me giggly," enthused AICN's head geek Harry Knowles. "If they decide to do 3D - it'll be a post process - due to how much the practical, the LightStage and the CG all come to play. But the key is - they're taking what Fincher told them to heart. David told Jules that he has to make sure to tell a great story, above and beyond what great tech they use for the robots."

"We are building the robots life size. Matt is one of the last great practical effects guys in the business who can pull this off," Urbach told AICN. "The teaser we have now is CG for the robot. It is to give the fans a taste of the design we are going with, but it is not a true reveal given what we are going to be doing when we build the thing. The real deal is going to be mind blowing of course."

AICN also posted this very sweet-looking special effects test footage sizzle reel for the film:
