That's me next to him in the blue shirt. So if you see my ugly mug walking around the Con come up and say hey.

I'll make a note of that then.

So, I've managed to talk a friend into going to the Ellis Q&A with me on Friday night and will be attending, so I have a few questions for those of you with more experience than me on these matters.

It says seating for the event is going to be 1500, and that doors open 9:00PM.
I'm assuming it will probably fill up since it's free so I should try to get there early, am I right in assuming this? If so, how early should be show up to assure that we actually get in?

The chicago con was typically held july 4rth weekend, it only changed after Wizard took control of it.

The last one I went to was in 93 or 94, and I gotta say it kinda dissapointed me, it was bigger than previous years, but it was alos when they started bringing in porn stars and ponr booths, as well as other "not-in-any-way-related-to-comics-bullshit".

I expext a certain amount of non comic stuff at a con, anime, cartoons, rare or sci-fi movies and posters, roleplaying games........ that kinda stuff is all at least tangently related. But porn? Nascar? Soap opera stars? What the fuck?????

The last thing in the world I wanna do at a convention is have some silly twat stuffed full of semen in every orifice and the splooge from her last DVDA money shot still stuck in her hair asking me to give her money for an autographed picture.....

I mean I can tangently see the relation, since comic pros, much like porn stars, are whores.... but the difference is, I don't mind giving my beloved comic book pros money, I haven't paid for porn since the invention of the internet...... keep the real whores walking the streets, not in my comic book con.....

Oh....and I hate you all for be able to go this year, when I haven't been in 15 years. :x

You're really fixated on this porn thing.

This will be my third year now and I haven't seen anything like that. Joyce Dewitt and Dirk Benedict, sure. But no porn.

Hard to say. Warren doesn't get out much so he'll probably draw a decent crowd. I know some of the bigger creators had people lined up hours in advance. Kubert brothers, Kevin Smith, J. Scott Campbell.

If I make a last minute decision to go, what day would be the best? It would be my first convention and I'd probably bring my 20 year old daughter and my 11 year old son. Suggestions? Is it even worth trying to go at this late date?

Sure it's worth it. If you'll only be there for one day and you really want to go all out I recommend Saturday. It's the busiest of the days but in a good way. The most creators, most special guests, most costumes (which aren't my thing but I love to people watch).

I recommend though to anyone who hasn't been before that you get as much cash as you think you'll need BEFORE YOU GET THERE. There are only a few ATM's and by mid-day there's always a big ass line to wait in. I remember last year at the Embassy Suites where I was staying that the ATM ran out of cash every day. So be warned.

We went sorta spur of the moment last year, and had no problem getting tickets at the door. The line was maybe 10 people long for us. I think we went on a Saturday.

I don't recall seeing any porn stars there last year. They do seem to have a lot of wrestling folks there this year, and they sorta whore themselves out a bit.

I like going to see the booths, getting peeks at stuff that's not out yet, and then walking the vendors' floor...all that stuff...and trying to find a deal or two. We also got a pair of BSG hoodie/jackets last year.

That, and the costumes. I'm amazed at what people are able to do with self-made costumes.

It's the best place to find trades. I bought a bunch of Marvel hardcover collections last year for about 8 bucks apiece. My friend got the Sandman Absolute Edition for 25.

We should do a Rama roadtrip someday.

Maybe get a caravan of people to go and maybe make a drive down to North Carolina for Heroescon one year.

Me, you, tralfaz, CountD, Pagla, Melon, etc.

I cant drive, but I'd chip in for gas and stuff :P

Meet up with Nate and we'd wreck that town
