Maybe get a caravan of people to go and maybe make a drive down to North Carolina for Heroescon one year.
Me, you, tralfaz, CountD, Pagla, Melon, etc.
I cant drive, but I'd chip in for gas and stuff

Meet up with Nate and we'd wreck that town
We'd have to tape it.
That would be a fucking blast.

Get a flight and come on out. The convention center is like 3 seconds away from O'Hare.

Maybe my cousin will have his baby early and I can justify a trip to Chicago next week. I haven't been to a convention since the 1988 Atlantic City Baseball Card convention.

kingofcities wrote:Sure it's worth it. If you'll only be there for one day and you really want to go all out I recommend Saturday. It's the busiest of the days but in a good way. The most creators, most special guests, most costumes (which aren't my thing but I love to people watch).
I recommend though to anyone who hasn't been before that you get as much cash as you think you'll need BEFORE YOU GET THERE. There are only a few ATM's and by mid-day there's always a big ass line to wait in. I remember last year at the Embassy Suites where I was staying that the ATM ran out of cash every day. So be warned.
Very wise advice. I remember last year my friend was trying to get cash out and the cash station in one area was out of cash and he had to go to the hotel section to get cash.
Glad I always get the cash ahead of time. I'm only worried I'll spend the damn money in the first day.

Yeah, I have to pace myself too. First time I went there I dropped 500 bucks just on the preview night.

We may be going after all. We won't have any cash to spend, I think, but then again, we get an extra paycheck in July. If I can plan it out right, we'll have a bunch extra to spend a little, plus save up that extra check. We'll see.

I'll probably bring certain ammounts of dough to each day that way I don't have to worry about spending it all in one night. But now hearing that Moose is going to be there with those lovely colored comic sheets he carries. I fear for my wallet now.

so what is the proper attire (though I'll probably change a few times a day). Is it really warm in there? Should I wear shorts, or blue jeans?
Probably wear a ton of my superhero t-shirts. My Sinestro Corps one, especially, if I get a chance to meet Geoff Johns.

It's going to be in the mid 80s all this week. So yes. it is really warm here. Also bring a umbrella just in case. Cause there be storms in the area Thurs supposedly.

thanks for the tip! Sounds about the same as we've got going here in Detroit. Also sounds like the hotel and the place are connected, so maybe I won't have to step out often during the day.
Evening plans to head into the city at least once with the hubby.
