Hmn that's interesting. You must have missed a lot of news then. As much news as is posted here, CBR almost always has more (sorry guys).

Nothing to apologize about. Their blogs are a main source of news for us too.

Usually whatever wasn't covered by "official" news posts here, was eventually covered in the forum.

ignore Loltron and if you (not YOU you) want to see news, go to the front page

Jude has built in so many ways to set this place up as individually as people want that viable excuse to people who don't care about the news having Loltron articles in their way

I don't mind the news, I just scroll past it. The changes in tone and community though are not great though, I think I still stop by at this point out of nostalgia and habit. Another thread and another topic though.

How do you know though? I mean if you didn't visit them before you might not know what you missed (unless you went and checked all the older stuff from there).

I go to a lot of sites so I see a lot of news and features. The actual amount of news-type stuff here is of a higher volume than before. Snark or not.

how does this defeat the initiative? oats is still here. Snarky articles didn't run him off, and unless you are saying that Bleu, Jude, Lord S, nieto, and anyone else with access to the stats are lying, then the gains the OH has seen since the initiative outshine the few less hits the front page gets from current members.

your argument is that because some members, who probably never really cared about the articles before, go somewhere else for news it doesn't matter that the site's stats are up across the board. Obviously the initiative has failed, you can tell by its success.

also, just because you repeat yourself / don't like the results it doesn't mean Jude and the team isn't taking cues from other sites, maybe he doesn't need the guidance of an unfunny non-lawyer who can't see how it might benefit his own blog if the OH attracts more readers to the front page

That this initiative is bringing in more views in is good in its own way. I would ask how many or those readers come back a second or third time. That's as much important to a site's growth as it is bringing new people in.
