Avengers vs the OUthouse: Hawkeye vs. Cap

Postby Doc Jon » Mon Apr 09, 2012 7:28 pm

In anticipation for the new Avengers film, I figured it's time to pit some Avengers against one another...

...Outhouse style.

Rules will most likely become necessary with time, since you guys like to be smart asses and figure out silly little nerd loopholes to the engagments rather than simply discuss them as presented. :-D

So Captain America (Steve Rogers) versus Hawkeye (Clint Barton), with their normal gear in an urban battlefield.

I'll go with Hawkeye, for being more versatile.
To develop their conscience and consciousness, to make them aware of what is going on, to prepare the precarious ground for the future alternatives—this is our task: "our" not only as Marxists but as intellectuals, and that means all those who are still free and able to think by themselves and against indoctrination, communist as well as anticommunist.

Cap kicks Barton's ass in under 10 seconds.

Hasn't Cap already beaten Hawkeye?

Cap routinely beats crowds of guys who all have guns. I realize that a gun doesn't have quite the muzzle velocity, rate-of-fire and stopping power of a...longbow...but still.

Seems unlikely.

Hawkeye certainly has the edge with distance. And I would love for the people that argue that a bow and arrow being impractical in a superhero world defend using a shield...

Ask some riot police, maybe.

I thougth Police used shields for riot control just because they can't realy attack the crowd without that attack itself causing more riots. From a tactical point of view, their shields work different than Caps' one.
I think Clint works there as Arsenal would work: Proficent with many weapons, including Cap's shield.

No but what good is a bow and arrow against a man with the ability to block it?

Cap, no doubt about it.

Aside from the impenetrable shield he's perfected the use of (the perfect defense to an arrow, and a good long range offensive weapon too) Cap is the peak of human conditioning. He's as strong as any human could possibly be, he's as fast.... and let's not forget he's a tactical genius as well.

The only Hawkeye could possibly win this is if he were running around as giant man again, but I imagine that Cap would still be able to take him down.

That's a perfect example of modern shield use, but Romans didn't throw then around. Things can't be weapon and shield at the same time, so each and every time he uses it as a weapon, there goes the shield. Clint is inbalanced in that area by nature and that's his edge, that and throwing stuff pretty good.

This would be close, Cap has trained Hawkeye in hand to hand combat, but, the super soldier serum gives the edge to Rogers.

Does Cap's normal gear include a cloaked Helicarrier full of Avengers?

If so, I choose Cap.

If not, I still choose Cap.

But Cap does't have to throw it at all. He just needs to use it to block Clit's(I know what I said) range attacks until he can get in close enough for hand to hand combat where he's the superior fighter.

What a stupid question. :smt011

Captain America with a cold and a broken limb could kick the shit out of Hawkeye on Hawkeye's best day.
